Eraserheads Reunion Concert: 08.30.2008

Eraserhead Reunion Concert daw

The first imagery that Sha and me saw while we were on our way to the concert venue riding The Fort bus is the sign above. Indeed, all roads lead to Fort Bonifacio Global City Open Grounds. And so, instead of going inside at the right side of the stage, we went to the left side of the stage for the VIP entrance since we already know where most people will come in. D

Anyway, we saw Jazz Nicolas doing a sound check. And I was right, Jazz Nicolas performed with the band playing keyboards and or tambourine. Then, when we saw the tech people setting up the guitars, there was an instant spoiler on how’s the band entrance will be like.

L-R: Dong Abay, Jugs Jugueta

We waited there for hours because we want the best position in the VIP area and all I can say is that it’s all worth it. Anyway, we saw some band people amongst the SVIP like Dong Abay and Jugs Jugueta (Itchyworms). We also discovered there that Kelvin (Itchyworms) is good with group self-portrait shots. D See the evidence below D

Us with Kelvin of Itchyworms D

Francis Reyes waving

Francis Reyes (The Dawn) was also there and while Sha was taking the picture (because she has a better view), he was just waving. Hehe. D Sha also had her picture taken with Ebe (Sugarfree and Cambio).

After some time, a countdown appeared on the screen. It’s the longest 10 minutes ever. My heart leaped for joy when I saw it in screen because finally, I will be able to see them perform once again. They had a grand entrance wherein they were elevated from the ground up to the stage. And before they show up on-stage, there’s a short AVP to hype the audience more. D However, I was already expecting that. Before the song Alapaap ended, there were fireworks. I salute the production team for making this first song really special. )

Here’s the setlist:
1. Alapaap
2. Ligaya
3. Sembreak
4. Hey Jay
5. Harana
6. Fruitcake
7. Toyang
8. Kamasupra
9. Kailan
10. Huwag kang matakot
11. Kaliwete
12. With a Smile
13. Shake Yer Head
14. Huwag mo nang itanong
15. Lightyears

After the first 15 songs, Ely suddenly sat down on stage as if he’s not feeling well. Then after that, another countdown was shown on screen. This time, it’s a 20-minute countdown that was not even finished when Raymund, Marcus, and Buddy appeared on-stage with Ely Buendia’s sister Laly announced that the concert will be cut short since Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital. I surmised that he’s going to be brought to Makati Medical Center since it’s the nearest hospital there (and yes it’s confirmed in the news).

Ely Buendia is already fine as reported by Inquirer.net earlier.

Anyway, some people are still hoping for a part two but I don’t think it’s recommended. I just hope Sony-BMG will still come up with a DVD of the Eraserheads Reunion Concert. D

Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, and World of Warcraft Philippines

While surfing around, I came across game-specific blogs dedicated to its existing or upcoming players. These blogs are maintained by two of the popular Gamer-Bloggers in the Philippines. But first the games - Age of Conan Philippines, Warhammer Online Philippines, and World of Warcraft Philippines.

No, these are not official websites, these are fansites - blogs to be exact. It is investing in popular IPs by creating websites which will later have advertisements, forums, and hopefully a vibrant and supportive community. It is about tapping that potential Community who are not being catered by anyone, for example World of Warcraft players who are in the Philippines or the Filipinos.

The World of Warcraft Philippines blog is being handled by Carlo Ople with theme designed by Kiven Codamon.

Next is Warhammer Online Philippines, managed by Kiven Codamon, quoting from their about page:

Pinoy Warhammer is the first and leading Warhammer Online MMORPG source for Filipinos.

We are fans of the Warhammer games and of the franchise itself and We are doing this because of our love for the game. Other notable MMORPGs we spent our lives on are: World of Warcraft, City of Heroes/Villains, EverQuest 2, Ultima Online, Lineage 2, Ragnarok Online, Perfect World, RF Online, Age of Conan, Dungeon Runners, Hellgate: London, Mythos and a ton of console and handheld games.

Finally, Age of Conan Philippines also by Kiven. This is how I discovered all the other blogs mentioned (and not mentioned) above. Instead of seeing the “official” AoC-PH website, I instead arrived in a fanblog. The design is the basic theme of Wordpress, either the project was dropped due to the announcement of an Official Age of Conan distribution and support locally or the theme is still being designed by Kiven.

All three fansites are hosted on Skaizer, a Dreamhost reseller offering a Wordpress service for local Filipinos. I noticed one thing from their list of clients, majority are working for Level-Up or are Level-Up blogs as well as Inquirer.

I can only assume that Skaizer is a hosting service by Level-Up, Inquirer, joint-venture, or someone who have connections to both companies and its employees. Now of course, it is possible that those listed were hand-picked, so it could be anything.

Here are the whois information of all sites:

And the links:
Skaizer
Age of Conan Philippines (a fansite)
Warhammer Online Philippines (a fansite)
World of Warcraft Philippines (a fansite)

Congratulations and best of luck to all fanblogs. Im glad to see people seeing value in creating portals, fansites, Communities around games and each IPs. Something the now defunct PhilGaming.Community did (which even had an upcoming wiki for each games). I hope the rest of the Filipino Gamers see the value as well and start creating fansites and portals for those things that they love.

Gone Fishing

Last year, when I was not working yet my uncle and his family had a wonderful fishing day. It was my very first fishing to use a rod.

Living beside the river that goes to Manila Bay, my father was a fisherman in his younger days. I have never seen him doing that noble job but as I grow older, he used to have a small fishing boat and some friends works for him.

I told my father about my fishing and I want him to experience the pleasure of fishing without thinking how much he will earn just to put something on the table. Just plain fun.

This photo was taken last year, I also taking pictures along the lake. I hope to get some good images tomorrow.

See you on Monday night again!
