iPhone 6 Plus bends in your pocket, Note 3 doesn’t

Lazada Philippines

Just weeks in after the release of the new iPhones, a problem is being reported that the new iPhones, especially the iPhone 6 Plus due to its large size, significantly bend easily, destroying the form of the smartphone.

iPhone 6 Plus Note 3 bends

This is not a rare case scenario as a lot of users have been using the hashtag #BendGate to spark discussion, and it goes to tell that the iPhone 6 Plus bends even when it is just sitting inside your pocket for a long time.

Some will defend that even older iPhones and most smartphones will bend if given enough pressure (Unbox Therapy retweeted bent Apple products today) and some will say that if only Apple didn’t make the device so thin, the company could have ended up making a better phone with no protruding camera hump, better battery life & a more solid build quality.

The videos above confirms the reports, showing how easy it is to bend, and to confirm that this issue is not exclusive to the iPhone 6 Plus, Unbox Therapy also tries to bend the Note 3 to which it does bend, but it returns back to its original form without breaking.

Tom Rodriguez + Dennis Trillo in Note 3 launch

A few nights ago, I attended the Manila launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 + Galaxy Gear which I’ve already written about in this post. The affair at SM Aura wasn’t really that star-studded but it WAS, in a way, because of two hot guys playing gays in local TV’s most talked-about show, “My Husband’s Lover.”

Presenting “Vincent”, “Eric” plus “Lally” 20 years later. hehehe.

Tom & Dennis

In my personal opinion, Tom Rodriguez had star factor. I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy will go places. And to think he just recovered from dengue fever in this pic.

Vincent: Look beh, we should be able to communicate easily with this Note 3. Just scroll around with the S Pen and it will take you from one app & icon to another. Just don’t get jealous if I keep photos of Lally and the kids. After all, they’re still a part of me.

Eric: ummm…. yeah…amazing!

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Sony Xperia Z1 vs LG G2

Greetings, spec fans! Just recently, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 & Sony, the Xperia Z1. Both phones pack the best punches as they feature huge displays, fast Snapdragon 800 CPUs and more. Now, let’s see how they fare up against their closest competition — the LG G2.

Galaxy Xperia G2

If you would notice, all these devices fall into the same product category. They’re all packing 5-inch or larger 1080p displays, boasting Snapdragon 800 chipsets & running Android.

As you can see, the Galaxy Note 3 takes the crown in most of the categories. It has the largest display, the highest RAM, the most expandable storage, the only one to offer UHD video recording, Android 4.3, the juiciest battery and the thinnest package; not to mention it also has that improved S-Pen.

However, not everyone enjoys a big display. With that said, the Sony Xperia Z1 takes the crown by being the one to pack the sharpest pixel density. The Z1 also features a 20.7 megapixel camera that has been put a lot of work into. All of that is wrapped around in a glass & aluminum body that is waterproof.

At 143g, the LG G2 is the lightest among the triad, but it’s also the thickest. It also doesn’t offer expandable storage. Apart from that, the LG G2 doesn’t seem to fail when compared to its new competitors while not offering anything unique as well.

On the brighter side, while the Galaxy Note 3 & Xperia Z1 had the advantage of more technology for a later release, the LG G2 will be launching here in the Philippines earlier – this upcoming 25th.

So, which one will be your Android pick? Or are you waiting for something like the HTC One Max, the next iPhone / BlackBerry, or the Noki *cough* Microsoft Lumia phablet? Feel free to leave your comments down below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 becomes official!

We’re live here in Berlin for the Samsung Unpacked 2013: Episode 2, days before the IFA opens on the 6th. Samsung has finally unveiled the new Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung bumped up most of the internal hardware while retaining the chassis size. The display is now at 5.7-inches but the width of the handset remained the same (same thing they did with the S4).

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 specs:
5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED display @ 1920×1080 pixels, 388ppi
Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 2.265GHz quad-core
Adreno 330 Graphics
3GB RAM
32GB, 64GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
LTE Category 4 150Mbps
WiFi 802.11ac
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
IR Blaster
GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
13MP rear camera, BSI sensor
1080p @ 60fps
1.9MP front-facing camera
1080p video @ 30fps
3200mAh Li-Ion battery
8.3mm thin
168 grams
Android 4.3 Jellybean

Like the Galaxy S4, the Note 3 also comes with a 3G variant running a Samsung Exyos 5 Octa 1.9GHz dual quad-core (Note 3 SM-N9000).

The handset is available in classic white, jet black and blush pink leather colors. They also introduced a leather back-cover and did away with the old polycarbonate backplate.

Since the covers are still user-removable, there’s option to change the back-cover to other colors (10 color variants in all, including the standard 3 mentioned earlier).

One of the interesting features that was originally introduced in the Galaxy S4 was the Group Play. Now, with the Galaxy Note 3, the Group Play feature also includes video. You can basically play a single video and span them across multiple Galaxy Note 3 devices.

The new S Pen now features an Air Command where you hover the S Pen and you are showed a selection of actions.

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Gear which is a companion device to the Note 3. It is worn like a watch but is a stand-alone device which can be paired with the Note 3 and the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 to provide extended functions.

Here’s a longer version of the video demo:

Global release is September 25 and should be available in all countries by October.
