OnePlus One Announced OxygenOS

OnePlus has officially unveiled their own operating system based on Android 5.0.2, and it’s called the OxygenOS.

According to the company, OxygenOS was built with the hopes of providing “faster, more meaningful updates and a better-integrated range of services for every OnePlus user.”

It added that in line with their goal of keeping OxygenOS “light and essential” the OnePlus team didn’t really do a complete overhaul of the Android Lollipop. Instead they kept what makes sense to them and their users and added some subtle improvements on performance and battery life.

Everything you need to know about OnePlus OxygenOS can be found on this link – this includes some of its features, and a pretty detailed guide on how you can flash the OS to your smartphone.

OnePlus Two promises killer specs for cheaps

The current OnePlus One that’s being sold now already offers beefy specs with a price that’s below other flagships in its class. Now the company is well on its way of releasing the OnePlus Two which they promise would surprise people with its better specs and a price tag that will position the device competitively.

The company itself confirmed that an upcoming flagship is in the works and will most likely come out this May. As for the specs, nothing is official as of yet but rumors point to a 5.5-inch display with either Full HD or Quad HD resolution. But considering that most flagships now or those that are yet to come all sport 2K resolution, we’re willing to bet OnePlus would also go for the higher screen resolution.

The latest Snapdragon 810 should also make it to the OnePlus Two, meaning it will entail a 64-bit chip and can support 4GB of RAM. OS-wise, Android’s 5.0 Lollipop should be expected along with 3,300mAh of battery.

We can expect more from OnePlus’ next flagship as Carl Pei, the company’s co-founder, assures us that their phone “would be a surprise and would impress many techies all around the world” not just because of its internals but also for its value for price or bang-for-the-buck.

Keep it locked here as we’ll be sure to update you when more details arise.

OnePlus One now official: design & power starting at $299

OnePlus is a start-up company led by Pete Lau back in 2013 when he left Oppo to begin anew. Now, months after continuous teasing, OnePlus announces its very first smartphone, the One, which they continually market as the flagship phone killer.

The OnePlus One boasts top of the line specifications from a 5.5-inch full HD display to a Snapdragon 801 CPU paired with 3GB RAM. It also touts a complete set of things to look forward to such as the 13 megapixel camera, the bottom-facing JBL fine-tuned speakers and the flat & minimalistic CyanogenMod OS that runs the show.

CyanogenMod 11S (based on Android 4.4 KitKat)
3,100mAh battery

OnePlus has not only very much managed to solve the specifications for us, but also the design and the price. The 16GB version starts at $299 and the 64GB version is at only $349. There will be two color variants available - sandstone black and silk white. Personalized textures will be made available too to add a little twist into their experience (bamboo, wood, denim and kevlar).

The company has not mentioned the Philippines as a country that it would launch the phone in, so we still have no idea when we can get this phone into our shores, but they have mentioned that it will be available in launch countries in the following months, Q2.

OnePlus One smartphone fits 5.5” display in 5” body

OnePlus has been raving on an upcoming smartphone that is determined to beat popular main players in terms of innovations. The latest update on the OnePlus One involves its Full HD 5.5-inch JDI display to fit inside a 5-inch body.

So far, what we know about the One is that it will sport a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor partnered with a 3100mAh battery plus a ‘mystery tech’ that they have yet to reveal (maybe on March 16). Now we get another update straight from the founder of OnePlus itself — the phone’s 5.5-inch screen will be coming from Japan Display Inc. (JDI) which is a collaboration between Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi, and is known for producing great displays.

The company knew that 5 inches was the ideal display size in terms of handling, but people preferred a little extra screen space for functionality. So they squeezed in a 5.5-inch display into a 5-inch body.

“Believe it or not, there’s a OnePlus One under that Sony Xperia Z1, a 5-inch screen phone,” said Pete Lau, founder of OnePlus.

OnePlus teases that a 5.5-inch One is under that 5-inch Xperia Z1.

Moreover, the 400+ ppi IPS LCD display also “will feature TOL (Touch On Lens) modules that eliminate the distance between the touch sensor and display panel”. It will also be more sturdy, offering 300% more shatterproof than the competing OGS (One Glass Solution) technology.

The soon-to-be-released One will also have CABC and DRAM technologies to help conserve battery. These innovations sense when the contents on the screen are dynamic, and consume less battery when they are static. This way the 5.5-inch display uses less energy than that of the 5-inch even at equal brightness.

In addition, @evleaks has reported that the OnePlus One will be available in either on-screen or capacitive hardware buttons. So that’s another thing to look forward to.
