Samsung to jump to Galaxy Note 7, skipping 6?

In a turn of events, it seems like Samsung is bypassing the six label and going straight to naming it Galaxy Note 7  when it launches in a few months, according to a report.

In a move to eliminate any inconsistencies and to catch up to the popularity of the Galaxy S7 series, ETNews reported that the next Note device will be Note 7.

[Samsung] has decided to skip over Galaxy Note 6 to eliminate any inconsistency with an image that can occur as numbers of two products’ brands are different. It is also applying dual-edge on Note series for the first time. This is seen as Samsung Electronics’ strategy to maximize marketability of ‘Galaxy Note7’, which is considered as Samsung Electronics’ biggest anticipated product, and to widen a gap between itself and Apple.

This actually makes sense since having a number prior to the current flagship may give a feeling that it’s an outdated phone.

Additionally, we could also be seeing a dual-edge approach for the Note 7 when it comes out since the current Note only has curved edges on its back. According to the source, this could put the company superior above other phonemakers since “it has a high level of difficulty in technology.” Lastly, the source points to a mid-July or August for the official launch.

Samsung neither denied nor confirmed these reports, so do take them with a grain of salt as of now.

Would you like it better if the next phablet will be called the Galaxy Note 7?

Possible Galaxy Note 6 Lite detailed, comes with SD820 and 4GB RAM

While there is still not much concrete details regarding the awaited Galaxy Note 6, some info suggests that a Lite version is also on the way carrying Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820.

The rumored Lite variant is said to have the same 5.8-inch display but will have a Full HD resolution rather than the usual QHD Super AMOLED display of the upcoming Note 6. In terms of its chipset, this supposedly toned down version is reported to have a Snapdragon 820 seen in other flagship devices. Finally, 4GB of RAM will accompany the processor.

If all these prove to be true, we could expect the Note 6 to have 6GB RAM or even more and a processor more powerful than the SD820.

Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
