The Direct Carrier Billing from Globe started its service since June 18 which allows Globe Postpaid, Prepaid, and TM subscribers to charge their Windows Mobile Store purchases to their postpaid bill or prepaid load — eliminating the hassle to provide all the details for credit card payment.

“This new innovation that will benefit our customers using handsets running on Windows OS is another testament to our thrust to bring the country to the global digital landscape. The expansion of our direct billing service to cater to purchases via the Windows Mobile Store now presents a truly hassle-free and content-rich mobile experience to all our customers using Windows phone devices,” says Griselda Go, Vice President for Content at Globe.

To access the Windows Mobile Store, users must first set up their device’s location to determine which Windows Mobile Store catalog and payment options will be made available on the device. The app will automatically recognize Globe as the mobile phone’s carrier and will determine it as one of the payment methods available.

Microsoft intros Hyperlapse for Android & Windows

Microsoft announces that its video-smoothing software for time lapses can now be used in different platforms. Hyperlapse Mobile is now on Android and Windows plus an addition of Hyperlapse Pro for desktops.

Microsoft Hyperlapse-2

We’ve previously reported about Microsoft’s Hyperlapse algorithm and you can read more about it in this link. Now, the company is bringing it to mobile devices starting with Android and Windows. It’s important not to confuse this with the iOS-exclusive Hyperlapse app that was released by Instagram last year.

The new Microsoft Hyperlapse is compatible with Android 4.4 KitKat and Lollipop, while the supported devices running Windows Phone 8.1 are as follows:

  • Lumia 435, 530, 532, 535, 630, 635, 636, 638, 640, 640 XL, 730, 735, 830, 930, 1520
  • HTC One M8

The Android version is currently on Beta mode and you can find the pre-release version by joining their community. Windows Phone users may download the app straight from their site.

As for those who want more advanced options you can get the Hyperlapse Pro for Windows PC. With it you can edit your old footage and not like Instagram’s wherein the video has to be shot within the app. It is offered for a free trial as of now, but the company is readying a paid version later on.

Finally, you now have something to do with those long POV footage (while driving, biking, etc) you’ve shot before on your action camera and turn them into something more interesting.

Be My Valentine — 5 Dating Apps to Get Your Flirt On

With Valentine’s Day coming up, a lot of people are looking to spend some quality time — either with a friend, a special someone, or simply with family. Although for those that are looking for anyone new, there are easy ways to find one (or a couple, depending on your preference) that you can spend a romantic day with and we’re here to point you in that direction. Here are 5 smartphone apps that will help you get your flirt on.

Tinder (Free: Android | iOS)

Tinder

One of (if not the most) popular dating app currently out on app stores is Tinder. It was released back in 2012 and quickly gained traction with a lot of users thanks to its ease of use and straightforward interface.

The app basically shows you photos of other users within a radius that you could set, which you could flick left if you want to move on or flick right to Like it. You can also tap on it to view more of the person’s photos, see your common interests, as well as mutual friends (through Facebook).

If you liked a photo and that particular user also did the same to yours, then it’s a match and the app would notify you both. From there you can start chatting and getting to know each other better.

Paktor (Free: Android | iOS)

paktorupload

Claimed as the number 1 Asian dating social app, Paktor has been launched in the Philippines sometime in 2013. It basically has the same formula with Tinder, but has a Popular tab that shows users with the most “Likes” from other Paktor-registered users. Think of them as the celebrities of the Paktor world which you can Like and just hope that they would Like you back!

You can either set the filter by country, distance, height, and even by jobs. Most importantly you can toggle the Hide from Friends feature if you don’t want your contacts finding out you’re looking for a date for the Valentine’s Day. Sneaky.

Skout (Free: Android | iOS)

Skoutupload

Just like the previous apps, Skout doesn’t require you to pay for anything to join. Anyone can create their profile, add photos, and start online mingling with people.

Some features unique to Skout are earning points to unlock premium features. The more you use the app, the more points you can earn. In addition, it is compatible with smartwatches running on Android Wear so you can still “Skout” for new prospects even on-the-go.

Grindr (Free: Android | iOS)

grindrupload

Not all dating apps cater to straight individuals. There are those that are solely for men looking for the same gender and this is what Grindr offers. First launched way back in 2009, this app with over 5 million users across 192 countries.

The company behind the app says that there’s a Search by Tribe function to look for your type of guy. So if you’re a dude who prefers the company of other dudes then you might want to check this out.

Scissr (Free: iOS)

scissrupload

While there’s an app for men, its counterpart also exists with no guys allowed. Scissr is here for all the lesbians in the house and their goal is to create a safe environment for them and find satisfaction. It’s currently available only for iOS users but is also free for download.

Those are some of the apps you can use to get your flirt on. Keep in mind that these will just help introducing you to new folks and you’d still be the one to talk to them. Remember to just be yourself and you might just attract someone with the same interests as you have.

5 Time Management Apps to Keep You Reminded

I’m not one of those people who has a constant need for a neat looking planner at the beginning of the year, because I know that I can keep myself organized and reminded well enough with the use of a few apps here and there. What are these apps? Check these out.

Timetable for Android

I have been using Timetable for more than a year now, and I never had thoughts of uninstalling it because it’s very useful, especially for students like me. Basically, you encode your schedule the moment you get it from your school, and the app does the rest for you – from reminding you to go to class to organizing your to-do lists for your subjects. Also, if you have other friends and devices who use the app, schedules can easily be shared.

Google Calendar / Sunrise

If you’re not in school or for your other things not associated with school, I keep my tasks and events on the Google Calendar. I wasn’t a Calendar user before, but now that it looks a lot better thanks to Material Design, count me in.

Because of Google’s integration, I rely on it a lot since I already input the locations of my events beforehand, and Maps will do the work for me. I can also have reminders emailed to me if I wanted to.

Side to side with Google Calendar, I also use Sunrise which is also really great since it manages all of my synced accounts’ calendars well such as Facebook events & birthdays. It’s also available in a lot of platforms, so that’s a huge plus.

Google Keep / Evernote

keep

For short notes and checklists, I run to Google Keep and it’s just the way I like it – simple yet colorful. With Keep, you can also add images and audio to your notes, but if you need something more powerful, I once used Evernote and it’s still one of the best around.

You can download Keep here, and Evernote here: iOS, Android.

Google Inbox

With Google Inbox, I was able to organize my infinitely cluttered e-mail inbox in less than a day. It organizes all of your emails into bundles, and you can also snooze them to have the app remind you later.

And also, speaking of reminders, the app is also made for that since it allows you to pin things you want to remember. It’s really handy to have this, but sadly it’s still in beta and will require you to have an invite first before you can use it, even if it’s available across various platforms.

{iOS, Android}

Timely for Android

To spice up your clock app, download Timely and hide away your stock clock app. Timely is very simple to use and has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a clock app (stopwatch, countdown, alarms) – but the best part is really that it’s just so smooth and beautiful.

Maybe when you wake up the next morning, you won’t be so grumpy.
