MMFF Online Experience

Since the pandemic started, a lot of things have changed. Shopping and grocery is done mostly online. There are no huge gatherings allowed in order to contain the spread of the virus. Instead, people would usually do gatherings over Zoom, Google Meet, Messenger, or Microsoft Teams. Even if cinemas in the malls are not yet operational, MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) 2020 is not cancelled.

MMFF is now online and the movies are streaming via Upstream. I just watched Fan Girl with my siblings and nephews. All you need is a TV equipped with Google Chromecast to have an enjoyable viewing experience.

Just like in the cinemas, there is a short film shown before the full-length film. The difference here is that you can pause if you need to get a bathroom break. It’s also cheaper because you can get to stream an MMFF movie for Php 250 and you can watch it your family.

One thing that cannot be avoided though, similar experience in the cinemas, is the unnecessary noise while watching a movie. Nevertheless, this is the safest way to access entertainment.

From 2011 to 2020 – Alternate Endings: The Making of the Final Set

It was around mid 2011 when Aldus Santos, the writer of the book “Alternate Endings: The Making of the Final Set” contacted me to contribute some pictures I took during the concert of the Eraserheads last March 7, 2009 for a book they’re working on.

Since then, I haven’t heard any news on the progress of the release of the book until I received a message from Day Cabuhat. She was one of the managers of Eraserheads and is continuously working with Ely Buendia. I got the message around October that the book will be finally released in December.

A few days after the book was released online, I finally got my copy! Thank you, Aldus, Day, and Offshore Music for sending me a copy of the book. Thank you also for the opportunity to be a part of it. If you haven’t gotten yours, just shop at Offshore Music online. The book costs Php 2,800. If you would like to get a copy of the book with Ely’s signature on it, you can get it for Php 3,500.

Birthday in the time of COVID-19

Celebrating birthdays at a time like this can be difficult since physical distancing is a challenge for such gatherings. With technology, you can video call with your family and friends for hours and not feel socially distant at all.

For the first time, I celebrated my birthday without going out and have lunch or dinner with my family and friends. Even if they were physically away, I really am happy with what they have done for me.

Cez, Jo, JC, Don and Sonya sent me cheesecake bites!

I also received heartwarming birthday messages. Thanks to Cez for getting the messages. 🙂

My heart is full! Thanks to all those who remembered and greeted me. 🙂

2020 Thank You Challenge

This 2020, I have already started on the Thank You challenge. So far, I have filled out my Gratitude Journal with three things I am grateful for since January 1. Those three things need not necessarily be life-changing.

It could be as simple as having a really good lunch or it could be finishing a crossword puzzle.

You can still do this challenge even if you do not have this particular journal. Any planner or calendar will do. 🙂

Word Games

Currently, I’m hooked into CodyCross. It’s a set of crossword puzzles where all words being solved have the same number of characters. Then, there’s a bonus word that you also need to solve. The bonus word is written vertically.

For my birthday, Cez has put together a puzzle. I’m amazed at how it was done and how the puzzle is very much associated to me.

Cez asked our teammates to correctly answer it before 5pm. Jo and Allyson got it all correct. 😀
