Sharp Aquos Mini unveiled in Japan, and it’s for them only

A compact powerhouse smartphone is a rare catch nowadays with only the Xperia Compact series being released in the main market. But, Sharp has a new smartphone that has a less than 5″ display with extremely thin bezels.

The Sharp Aquos Mini (SH-03H) sports a 4.7-inch 1080p IGZO panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, that’s double than most smartphones around and expect smoother animation and reduced blur when viewing. It’s a similar tech used on your LED TVs. Also, it can go as low as 1Hz if needed to save juice. The dimension of the phone is just 126 x 66 x 9mm resulting to extremely thin bezel on up top and on its sides. Not only that, the phone is lightweight too at 120g and to top it all, it’s IPX68 waterproofed.

Sharp didn’t stop there, the phone has a unique notification system called Emopa. It can emit light at the bottom corners to call your attention or do a pulse as breathing lights. Another feature is the pressure sensitive sides that you can squeeze to confirm an action.

Inside the phone is a Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB of RAM. There’s a 13-megapixel main camera with a bright f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization. The front camera is an 8-megapixel  wide-angle shooter but placed rather at the chin of the handset due to the limited space up top. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

4.7-inch IGZO 120Hz LCD @ 1920 x 1080 pixels
