Wells Fargo launches Runners and Riders Club

Over 200 team members of Wells Fargo Enterprise Global Services – Philippines participated in its first-ever Walk/Run/Ride event on February 7 in McKinley Hill, Taguig City to promote walking, running, and cycling as ‘greener’ and healthier commute options.

As part of Wells Fargo’s philosophy of propagating environmental awareness through everyday actions, the 3K and 5K Walk/Run/Ride aims at creating awareness of building a sustainable environment by reducing individual carbon footprints. The event also reaffirmed the health and wellness benefits that go with walking, running and cycling.

“Wells Fargo is committed to a better environment. We endeavor to make a difference at our workplace as well as the community we live in, by continuing to create awareness about sustainable practices and follow them. The Run/Walk/Ride is an example of this commitment,” Denis McGee, Chief Administrative Officer of Wells Fargo EGS Philippines, said. “We encourage our team members to participate in this event as well as take part in running and riding events across the country,” he added. Wells Fargo has recently started its Runners and Riders Club, following suit from the many initiatives of the Bank across its Global centers.

Speaking at the event, Nicole Tria Tirona, Business Initiatives Manager, Wells Fargo EGS-Philippines, said: “We are committed to finding new ways to minimize energy consumption, use renewable sources of energy, and work towards influencing our communities to do the same. While the organization has successfully put into practice several ‘everyday’ green initiatives, volunteer teams continue to work to educate and create awareness about sustainable practices at work and life. Team members also participate in external initiatives that help the environment.”

The company also facilitates the ‘cycle to work’ initiative by allocating cycle parking zones in its facilities, which are built and operated by the credo of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’. The Wells Fargo Center in McKinley Hill is a sustainable site with high-performing features, and strict energy and resource management. It was recently proclaimed as LEED-certified – with Gold and Platinum rankings for interior and exterior, respectively.

With Wells Fargo’s thrust on environmental stewardship, the Walk/Run/Ride is just one of the many testimonies of its commitment to the cause of healthy and green living for its team members.
