Huawei TalkBand B1 lands for Php5,995

Lazada Philippines

Announced back in February during MWC 2014, the Huawei TalkBand B1 is now available in the Philippines with a suggested retail price of Php5,995.

Huawei’s smartband is an interesting one because it not only works as a wristband but also doubles as a wireless earphones.

And since it’s already paired to your tablet or smartphone all the time, that feature really makes the more sense.

The Huawei TalkBand B1 has 1.4-inch flexible OLED, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC with a Li-ion 90mAh battery that could last up to 6 days on a single full charge (maximum 14 days when Bluetooth is off). It also has IP57 rating for water and dust resistance.

The TalkBand B1 is compatible with smartphones and tablets running Android 4.0 and higher or iOS 5.0 and higher.

It’s About Time: A Smartwatch Compilation

Lazada Philippines

A lot of smartwatches have already been outed and announced, running Android Wear or their own operating system, having round displays or conventional square ones and more. So to paint a clear picture of what the smartwatch industry looks like at the moment, we’ve compiled the smartwatches from top phone manufacturers that are competing for the space right now.

Note: For the sake of this compilation, we took out the earliest devices such as the Galaxy Gear and the initial Sony Smartwatches. We also cannot include all the smartwatches released, so we only took the most relevant ones in the context where you may see the time and install new things into your wearable. Listed in no particular order.

1. LG G Watch

  • Price: $229 (Estimated Conversion: Php10k)

Now there’s a lot more if you think about watches with varying functionality; there’s Cookoo, Qualcomm, Meta and a lot more playing around. If rumors are true, Apple might add to this list, but there’s also a chance that we won’t as we haven’t even seen a single leak of the “iWatch”. Nokia and Microsoft are strangely too quiet about the smartwatch industry as well, so we still don’t know how they’ll play their cards.

So did you place your bet yet? Or are the smartwatches not yet worth it? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Xiaomi Mi 4 vs. Meizu MX4, the Chinese giants

Lazada Philippines

Two of the most prominent smartphone maker in China battle it out in the flagship category, each sporting the top chipsets from Qualcomm and Mediatek — the Meizu MX4 and the Xiaomi Mi 4.

The reason why we’re pitting them against each other is because of one simple fact — both handsets, despite of their gargantuan hardware specifications, are priced at less than half the SRP of most other flagship smartphones of other global brands.

Based on the hardware configuration alone, we try to stack one against the other and tally the points.

Xiaomi Mi 4:
* Slightly higher pixel density
* Has bigger 3GB RAM
* Has larger 8MP sensor front camera
* Has expandable storage options

Meizu MX4:
* Option for 64GB internal storage
* Has larger 20.7MP rear camera
* Slightly bigger display size
* Significantly lower starting price

While we cannot categorically determine whether the Mediatek MK6595 with its octa-core processor is better than the quad 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801, Mediatek’s 47,233 Antutu score for the MK6595 breaks the record of any chip we’ve seen before.

It’s a close fight, that’s one thing we can agree on. Perhaps, if they’re too close to each other, the final determining factor might be the design and form factor.
