Olympus PEN Lite E-PL7 announced, selfie features in tow

Olympus has recently launched the sixth iteration of its digital PEN Lite camera, the PEN Lite E-PL7, which inherits the rangefinder-inspired form factor of its Micro Four-Thirds predecessor, but offers added features to make it more relevant in this selfie-centric age.

By and large, the new PEN E-PL7’s design doesn’t vary that much from the PEN E-PL5 back in 2012. It still has the compact and lightweight body, coupled with uncluttered button and ergonomic design.

What changed though is the addition of a mechanism behind the display which allows it to flip downwards by 180 degrees, making it easier for users to take selfies in the process.

New music video celebrates OLX.ph’s growing Yesss, Yaman! Movement

Awaken your sluggish spirit with the new Yesss, Yaman! music video from OLX.ph, the biggest C2C buy and sell platform in the country. The promotional clip features a catchy jingle that tells sellers how to easily sell pre-loved items online: Halina at tayo’y magbenta. Sa OLX ka pumunta. Ang hindi na ginagamit, cellphone, TV o damit, ibenta na sa OLX!.

The new music video depicts the transformation of Barangay Matumal (sluggish) to Barangay OLX—a lively and self-motivated community where residents know how to declutter homes from unwanted stuff and earn extra cash from selling these things online.

The music video reflects the growing popularity of selling pre-loved items on OLX.ph. Since its rebranding in March, the site has been getting an average of 25% new sellers and 10% more ad listings per month — thanks, in part, to the success of the Yesss! Yaman! Movement, which has visited key barangays in the country to promote financial literacy and provide assistance to locals who want to sell used items online.

With the video’s release, OLX.ph managing director RJ David is positive that the Yesss, Yaman! Movement will be able to reach a larger audience and bring more people to sell their 2nd hand items online. “As what the video affirms, you don’t have to be a merchant to sell stuff on OLX because it’s for everyone. There are also buyers for almost anything you want to sell. So I urge you to sell the unused items that are only taking up space in your home. OLX them and say ‘yes’ to yaman!” says David.

Kakao, the provider of KakaoTalk, a mobile messaging application and global mobile social platform, is proud to announce that it has been named a 2015 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, making it the first Korean company to be recognized since 2001. Chosen among 24 of the world’s top industry-leading organizations, the award recognizes the company’s ability to design transformative technological solutions that have a significant impact on business and society, while demonstrating visionary leadership with signs of being long-standing market leaders.

“We are honored to be named a leading Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and humbled to be accompanied by some of the world’s most cutting-edge organizations,” said Sirgoo Lee, Co-CEO of Kakao Corp. “This recognition truly demonstrates Kakao’s belief in fostering and sharing innovative ideas across all levels of our business to generate creative, value-added programs for the users of our platforms. As part of this recognition, Kakao will become an active member of the Forum’s Technology Pioneers community for a period of five years.

The 2015 Technology Pioneers will be recognized for their achievements on September 11th at the eighth Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China, a notable gathering on science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, which brings more than 1,500 leaders from business, government and research from over 90 countries.

Along with the X1, Acer Philippines has also launched the Liquid Jade, a 5-inch Android smartphone that was first seen during year’s Computex.

1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD)

140.5 x 69 x 7.5mm
2100mAh battery
Dual-SIM capable
Android 4.4 KitKat

Looking at its specs sheet, the newly launched Acer Liquid Jade seem like an able contender in the midrange segment, that is if you discount the fact that it actually cost almost fifteen grand.

At that price point, it’ll be difficult for Acer’s new 5-inch smartphone to go toe-to-toe with cheaper, and sometime more powerful, smartphones in the local scene.
