The Royal Pyrotechnie started out as a small toy store that sold small fire crackers in Canada. After participating in a fireworks competition in Montreal in 1967, the company has since focused on perfecting its craft. Today, Royal Pyrotechnie is known as the most decorated fireworks company in Canada and the only company to have received the Jupiter d’Or award thrice.

The PIPC ran for six consecutive Saturdays from February 15 to March 22 at the Seaside Boulevard of the SM Mall of Asia (MOA). A total of 10 competing countries participated in the tournament, with host country Philippines showcasing its pyrotechnics savoir-faire during the opening and closing exhibitions on February 15 and March 22 respectively.
