Huawei Ascend G6 LTE first impressions

People who bought and loved the Huawei Ascend P6 would be glad to know that a better but similarly designed Ascend G6 has been announced and should arrive in the Philippines soon.

This 7.85mm thin mid-range smartphone from Huawei will retail for about Php15k (the P6 was around Php18+k) but comes with a Snapdragon 400 chip and LTE connectivity.

The very light and thin profile is slightly similar to the footprint of the Ascend P6. The Ascend G6 follow the design but with some changes — like smaller screen, thicker profile but a little lighter.

The handset is also available in a number of colors as we saw white, black, gold, pink and purple variants at the showroom.

For the colors other than white and black, the finish is mostly just around the trimmings only and not the face plate (except for the pink one that’s fully tinted all around).

The backside is flat, has a matte finish and the speaker is positioned in the bottom left corner while the 8MP camera is flushed on the top left corner.

The power button and volume controls are on the right side and the micro-SIM slot and micro-SD are found on the left side with a pop-out drawer.

It’s also interesting to note that the Ascend G6 is packed with a Sony IMX134 f/2.0 sensor. Here’s the complete hardware specifications we got from Huawei.

Huawei Ascend G6 4G/LTE specs:
4.5-inch qHD IPS LCD @ 960×540 pixels, 245ppi
Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad core
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
LTE 150Mbps
HSDPA 42 Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
GPS with aGPS support
Li-Ion 2,000mAh battery
8MP Sony IMX134 sensor f/2.0 AF BSI rear camera, LED flash
5MP front-facing camera
Android 4.3 Jellybean
Emotion UI 2.0

With an expected price tag of around Php15k, the Ascend G6 LTE could be one of those really nice-looking and capable mid-range handsets to come out by next quarter of this year.
