MRT’s new crowd control measures: Better or Worse?

The Metro Rail Transit management has recently implemented a new crowd control scheme in the hopes of “improving” the passengers’ commute experience, as well as freeing up some space in the ever-crowded North Avenue station.

The management’s solution was to enforce a by-batch-entry system wherein 500 passengers will only be allowed to enter the station and wait to aboard a train, at any given time.

According to Al Vitangcol, the current GM of MRT, the new scheme will minimize the number of passengers who are flocking the North Avenue station to ride the train.

“Ang nangyayari kasi dati yung mga pasahero na galing sa ibang istasyon, sa kagustuhang makasakay ay pumupunta dito lahat sa North Avenue station. Kaya nagkakaipon-ipon dito,”

MRT management’s new crowd-control scheme may seem fine on paper (at least for them), but in reality it just forces the passengers to wait outside of the station, exposing them to the unforgiving heat of the sun and pollution.

So we’re left with the obvious question, is this newly implemented measure going to deliver on its promise of better commute experience or it’s just going to make matters worse? What do you guys think?
