Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition first impressions

Announced back in September, the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is a refresh and upgrade to Samsung’s famed 10-incher. It sports an Exynos 5 Octa CPU, 3GB of RAM, and a body reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 3. Let’s take this tablet for a quick spin by reading our first impressions below.

The first time you lay your eyes on the new Note 10.1 and you’ll be most certainly be reminded of a specific gadget that you’ve recently seen before. No, definitely not its predecessor, but of something with a screen size half of its size. Yes, the Galaxy Note 3.

The 2014 Note 10.1′s design is easy to understand and accept. It took a lot of design cues from its 5.7-inch brethren which includes the physical home button, chrome sides, and faux-leather rear. This makes the new Note 10.1 feel more at home placed on an expensive wooden table or a leather sofa, unlike its predecessor that could fit right in in a Star Trek scene.

Elegant, that’s one word to describe the Note 10.1. The white variant, which we currently have, has a certain appeal that women should find attractive. If it’s black, I’d say it’s classy and I’m sure it’s something Barney Stinson wouldn’t mind carrying at all times.

Behind all those aesthetics sits a beast that can handle even the most intensive of tasks: A Exynos 5420 CPU, Mali-T628 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 8,220mAh battery, and Android 4.3 Jellybean. Take a look at the result of our initial AnTuTu benchmark below:
