One of the smaller halls in Messe Berlin during IFA had a lot of start-up companies showing off their inventions and interesting gadgets. This PowerTrekk charger is based on Fuel Cell technology.
The se up is very simple, combine ordinary water with the myFC Puck and it converts water into electricity. The kit includes the charging module where you fill up with regular water and a cradle for the Puck.
Once the myFC Puck and water are in place, the module will produce electricity enough to fill up your smartphone and similar devices. Aside from being a charger, the module also saves up any remaining charge for later use.
You will have to replace the myFC Puck once the charge is deleted.
In their booth, PowerTrekk was selling it for a promo price of 149 euros (down from regular price of 200 euros). Each myFC Puck costs 6 euros a pop.
This kit isn’t for regular use which will make it very expensive but if you’re the type who goes on treks and travels in or around water, this could be a good solution.
