When I was in Roxas City last December 4-7, one of the sites that I really wanted to see is the Culajao Mangrove Eco Park.
When I visited Kalibo a day before I went to Roxas City, I also visited another eco park similar to this: The Bakhawan Eco park in Buswang, Kalibo.
Compared to Bakhawan, Culajao Eco Park in Roxas City is much smaller at 4.6 hectares. But the park in roxas City has more mangrove species comapred to the ones in Kalibo. Culajao is home to 19 mangrove species, seven kinds of birds, 23 shellfishes, 10 mollusks, seven fishes, and eight insects.
The Culajao Eco Park is perfect for educational tours, barkada weekend excursions, or a simple family picnic. There are cottages available.
Boats are also available for those who wish to experience the park in a different way.
Recently, the Culajao Mangrove Eco Park has received a special citation as “Eco Tourism Product” during the Western Visayas Tourism Assembly.
