Manila International Book Fair: Proud to be 30!

Last week, I went to the Manila International Book Fair held at the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia Pasay City. The Book Fair, or popularly known by its acronym MIBF is the largest book fair in Metro Manila.

Every year, thousands of book lovers would troop to the venue to buy the most interesting paperpacks or get the latest bestsellers at a much lower rate. Students also get to buy textbooks at discounted price.

What is also good about the MIBF is that it is a one-stop-shop event where all the book publishers are in single roof.

For three decades now, MIBF has united local and foreign publishers, wholesalers, retailers, book lovers and collectors, librarians, authors, and publishers’ representatives. Through economic ups and downs, it has also continuously contributed to the reading awareness of the Filipino by being the venue for book launches, dialogues with readers, and other book-related activities that reach out to a wide audience.

On its pearl anniversary, MIBF showcases the largest and most varied collection of literature, textbooks, educational supplements, general references, religious and inspirational titles, self-help books, management books, Filipiniana, coffee table books, popular novels, children’s books, art books, graphic novels, rare and hard-to-find titles, magazines, audio and e-books, multimedia, teaching supplies and services, publishers’ technology, and travel materials.
