Friday evening was spent partying at Ange’s house with her relatives and friends, in celebration of her birthday last week (as well as her sister’s just yesterday). I went there with Jez on a cab, reminiscing our times as the notorious Fink Four way back in our college days at UP Baguio. Love was the only one missing, which was really too bad because we terribly miss her.
F4: Jezzy, Ange, Shari, Love; circa 2005
Jez and I were first to arrive (even before the birthday celebrants — go figure), and we were lucky enough to have a whole tray of Tita Rosan’s delish oatmeal bars for ourselves. Heh, yum! Ange arrived a couple of minutes later with five friends, two of them even former classmates of mine. Paul made the girls swoon and stole our hearts with his singing prowess. He kicked not just arses, but balls too.
Things got a little crazy as a drunken Ange forced every person she saw to drink (a little exaggeration is no exaggeration, haha). I contented myself by staying in her room, talking with her other friends while we waited for things to wind down a bit, and watching the amusing procession as midnight dragged on. I got home at a little past noon the next day, exhausted beyond belief, slightly intoxicated, with absolutely no stolen second of a shuteye.
That was fun.

I scrubbed off the drowsiness and remnants of alcohol from my body and changed into more comfortable clothes as fast as I could in order to make it to the meet-and-greet
Para Kay B (o kung paano dinevastate ng pag-ibig ang 4 out of 5 sa atin) book signing event at
National Bookstore, SM West. I had my copy at hand and csimply ouldn’t wait for award-winning scriptwriter
Ricky Lee to sign it. It was, after all, his very first novel, published just two months ago. The very disorganized way (and that’s putting it mildly) the event was handled didn’t deter me from my mission. When Ricky Lee finally signed my copy, I almost floated to Never Never Never Land.
Truly one of the most overwhelming days of my life. It’s not everyday I get to meet a living legend.
And his message?
Ricky Lee wrote this dedication on my book.
