Byahilo Feasting on Bacolod’s Calea Cakes

Several times, I keep on rambling to some friends that Bacolod, unlike Vigan Iloilo or Baguio, is not rich in touristy sights. We only have the Cathedral, the Plaza, the Capitol and some few others. All the rest it’s outside of the city already. But one thing why people continue to come in droves to Bacolod is because of its food. Bacolod City in Negros Occidental may not have a large number of places to visit, but has more than enough kainan, foodshops and retaurants to satisfy all your cravings.

Cakes from Calea

It’s not the first time that I have mentioned the word CALEA here in my blog. In fact the word CALEA, has appeared in at least 6 blog posts! And everytime I go back to Bacolod, I have to make sure that Cales Cakes is in my itinerary, by hook or by crook.

Calea Cakes

To say that Calea is delicous is simply an understatement. Calea has this unique character which no other cake shops in Metro Manila has equalled.

Its cheesecakes are one of a kind. A must-try. There are even times I have to ask somebody from Bacolod to airlift mea box of Blueberry Cheesecake just to satify the cravings. Calea has three branches in Bacolod. Its main shop is just beside the L’Fisher Hotel along Lacson Street. Their second store opened sometime 2006 in Robinsons Place Bacolod. And their latest branch at the East Block.

Aside from the highly-talked-about cakes, Calea also serves sandwiches and coffee. Unfortunately they do not offer franchising opportunities right now.
