Listeners Request: PLS format

I would like to request that you also provide versions in .pls format.

Currently you only have asx. The problem is that asx files require the use of Windows Media Player which is not available in my operating system.

On the other hand, the pls format is a more universal format. It is used by Winamp on Windows, iTunes on Mac, and Amarok in Linux. Hence this will also widen your audience as you will not be limited to listeners who have Windows Media Player.

I hope you will consider my request. Thanks in advance! - Bamm Gabriana

Bitstop Inc took a look at the wiki entry for PLS at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PLS_(file_format)

PLS is a computer file format that stores multimedia playlists. It is a more expressive format than basic M3U, as it can store (cache) information on the song title and length -- extended M3U supports this, too. However, M3U playlists, because of their simplicity, can be easily created with a scripting language such as AppleScript or JavaScript, or even by hand. With PLS version 2, playlists also include a PLS version declaration.

Microsoft Windows and its software does not automatically detect PLS format and cannot run it. Winamp plays PLS files without any extra codecs required. Windows Media Player classic with K-Lite codec installed does work with PLS format but still will not automatically detect it.

For our windows media player based listeners, you need to download and install a file for you to access this PLS format. http://wiki.cdyne.com/wiki/index.php?title=Playing_PLS_Winamp_files_in_Windows_Media
