Samsung rolls out Android 6.0 update for Galaxy A8

After seeding Android Marshmallow updates for its front-runners, Samsung is now rolling it out to devices that are next in their model hierarchy.

With that, users of Galaxy A8 in other countries like India are already getting the 6.0 version of Android OS so we could expect it to arrive locally soon.

The update has a reported file size of 1112.27MB and with it comes the whole package of Android Marshmallow. If you have a Galaxy A8 you can wait for the OTA notification once it’s available here, but you can also manually check it by going to the Settings menu.

ASUS outs Android 6.0 update for Zenfone Zoom

ASUS rolls out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML just after the Zenfone Selfie got bumped up to the same OS version.

By downloading the file (click the link), you just have to copy the firmware zip file to your internal storage and reboot the devices. There should be a system update notification once you turn it back on.

Below is the release note from their page:

  • Software update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Internal storage will decrease slightly after update. It is recommended to back-up data and relocate media files (pictures & videos) to SD card to reserve enough storage before starting the software update. Android Marshmallow won’t support APP2SD. Please move apps to internal storage before system upgrades.
  • Android Marshmallow won’t support APP2SD. Please move apps to internal storage before system upgrades.
  • Multi-user function won’t be supported if the account is deleted. Please keep your account to continue usage.
  • The apps listed below will no longer be pre-loaded once your device has been upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

    3. Photo Frame
    4. ASUS Backup
    5. Dr. Safety
    6. What’s Next
    7. Party Link

Alcatel Idol 3 receives Android 6.0 update

Owners of the Idol 3 smartphone from Alcatel is getting a refresh in terms of software version as the company releases its awaited Marshmallow update.

The Android 6.0 update is for the unlocked version of the Idol 3. Although, there’s no mention of either if it’s for the 4.7″ or the 5’5″ variant. Anyhow, if you have the smartphone, it’s best to check it out. The update weighs more than 1GB and includes the June 2016 Android security patch.

The Alcatel Idol 3 was exclusively released in the Philippines through Globe Telecom postpaid plan. Since the update is for the unlocked version, the update for Globe’s handset could be later than expected. See our review here.
