Google Motion Stills app creates a more beautiful, steady GIF

Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus owners are in for a treat from Google as the tech-giant released a new app for iOS that will bring your Live Photos to a whole new level.

With the Google Motion Stills, shaky and unusable Live Photos will turn into a more beautiful creation thanks to the app’s impressive motion tracking and stabilization tech. This works by freezing the background areas of Live Photos while allowing the foreground to move freely. The output? A professional-looking steady Live Photo in GIF format for easy sharing.

Here are some samples provided by Google:

Sadly, it’s just available for iOS for now. Head over to the App Store here and download the app now.

Instagram launches Boomerang — creates GIF-like videos

Instagram launches a standalone app called Boomerang and it creates GIF-like videos that you can share on different social media platforms easily. Always wanted to do an infinite flip? Now you can!

Shooting either landscape or portrait, the app stitches photos into a one-second video that loops in a forward and backward motion. Capturing should be done in-app but you can later on save the finished video into your album to share anywhere online.

Check out the video to see how it works:

Boomerang is now available for free on iOS and Android.
