Xiaomi sold over 1,300 units of Mi 3 last July 4

Last Friday (July 4), Xiaomi Philippines ran another round of sale on their Mi3 smartphone. The first round sold out all 3,000 units in an hour so we’re expecting almost the same time on the second round.

According to our source inside Lazada, Xiaomi managed to sell over 1,300 units of the Mi3.

While that’s 700 less than their 2,000 target, that’s still over Php13 million worth of sales in just a day.

Add that to the Php31.5 million that sold the first time around, that’s close to Php45 Million is sales for the two days it went live in Lazada.

We’re also told the Redmi and the Mi Pad will also go on sale in August.

Update: According to Lazada, the figure is incorrect. The company does not release partner specific sales information or comment on future selling plans.

Xiaomi makes Philippine presence official

Over lunch today Xiaomi VP for Global Hugo Barra (a former Google exec) presented their MI line-up to us and explained the preparations they’ve made for the consumer launch of Mi smartphones in the Philippines.

We still can’t reveal the exact details of the date of release, pricing and the sales channel as it is still being ironed out. We we can say is that very soon, you’d be able to order a Mi smartphone online and deliver it to your home in 24-48 hours (so prepare your credit cards).

Xiaomi’s strategy is to sell directly to customers to cut down on distribution costs and marketing costs which means the handsets are more affordable compared to other devices in their respective categories.

Xiaomi has prepared 7 service centers and 53 drop off points so that customers have access to after-sales support. There’s also a hotline if customers have questions about the devices. They have also set up a small office here in BGC.

While we cannot make any specific announcements on the retail prices of the Mi phones, we can say that it will be almost similar (very close) to what they are selling it elsewhere.

Xiaomi puts up webpage for Philippines

We’ve reported last April that popular Chinese mobile brand, Xiaomi, is coming to our shores this year. Looks like they’re getting ready to rollout as they have already put up their wepbage for the Philippines.

The webpage is headlined as Xiaomi Pilipinas with www.mi.com/ph as its URL. There’s no content yet and only shows a photograph of Boracay, a link to the Xiaomi Philippines Facebook page, and a message saying that they’re “coming soon!”

We’re expecting the webpage to be populated with Xiaomi products like its smartphone lineup, gadgets and accessories, once we near its local launch. For now you can check out their webpage or Like the Facebook page via the links provided above.
