T-Pain’s auto-tuned voice will guide you through traffic

There have been a lot of famous identities that gave their voice as assistants for the traffic navigation app Waze. Now, it’s time to auto-tune your way through EDSA since T-Pain is here to give you a heads-up of the latest events on the road.

We remember T-Pain as the artist that popularized the auto-tune effect applied to the voice to have that robotic effect. We’ve also seen T-Pain appear in hit tracks like “I’m on a Boat”.

To get him to start telling you where the next police is, simply open your Waze app and head to the settings menu and look for Sound>Navigation Guidance. From the selection, hit T-Pain and the app will begin to download the new prompts.

Of course, it’s better  to do all that at home and download thru Wi-Fi than while driving — saves both data and is way safer.

Google lets you choose your side of the Force with Star Wars promo

To further hype the nearing release of the new Star Wars film, Google launches its “Choose Your Side” promo that turns your platform into a movie-themed experience.

If you still haven’t heard, typing “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” onto the Google search bar will turn the results to a Star Wars intro, crawling its way up on yellow font. That’s just a small slice of what Google has in store for the movie’s fans out there.

By visiting www.google.com/starwars, you can choose which side of the Force you want to pledge your allegiance to. Depending on what you select, your browser and other apps  will be revamped whether you’re on the light or dark side.

I chose to stick with the latter and be well on my way of becoming a Sith Lord and below are photos of what it looked like when opening a new tab or checking my Gmail:

The theme will be integrated across other Google apps like Maps (your car becomes a TIE fighter/X-wing) and Waze (C3PO’s voice would be the one guiding you). If you’re a fan of the purchase, you shouldn’t be even finishing this article and start choosing sides already. It’s pretty fun.

Version 4.0 presents a neater look while still maintaining its cartoony feel — icons are now rounder and the alert button is more visible. Catch the video to see more of it:

Above, it shows its one-tap navigation feature, a real-time distance meter when there are any obstructions on the road, and a faster way to send an ETA to a contact. Basically, the new update just made things simpler and faster to accomplish.

As a kicker, they also mentioned on their update log that they “significantly reduced battery consumption” which is definitely good news.

The new version is available for iOS (97.3MB in size) with an Android release coming soon.
