L.Y.N.X.9 is Mad Catz’s transforming Android controller

Mad Catz introduces its Android controller that transforms to whatever you’re going to use it for. The L.Y.N.X.9 has a robotic-looking design and amazing functions that will surely appeal to gamers of all ages.

The L.Y.N.X.9 pairs to devices using Bluetooth connectivity. One of the nice things about it is that you can use it for all Android smartphones and tablets as well as Windows PC. It reportedly has a built-in rechargeable battery that could last for 20 hours in a single charge. It charges via USB and even has a trackpad for PC use, but its main selling point is its ability to change its design by adding, removing and combining accessories.

This change in form factor is not only for aesthetics but it also offers new capabilities. These are listed below:

  • Folding it all the way transforms the L.Y.N.X.9 into a really small package for bringing it around
  • Extend arms to begin playing. It also comes with detachable grips for better traction.
  • Add a smartphone mount so you can play Gameboy-style.
  • Add a QWERTY keypad to be able to type.
  • Attach a tablet stand to hold a 7- to 8-inch tablet and position it at an angle to easily connect to a TV.
  • Dismantle the controller, attach them on both sides of the stand and you now have a giant controller that holds your tablet in the middle.

Here are some of the form factors it can transform to:

Angry Birds Transformers: Autobirds vs Deceptihogs

A new franchise of the popular game from Rovio is soon to hit stores and this time, it would be themed with the Hasbro robots that we’ve loved from way before. The Angry Birds Transformers will still revolve on the ever-long battle between the birds and hogs and will have “birds disguised as robots in disguise”.

Though there’s no news on how exactly its gameplay would go, we can only imagine having its iconic way of gaming..but of course with robotic pigs and birds transforming! Both Rovio and Hasbro are also planning to release products like NFC-powered telepods that are for sale alongside the app. Just like before, acquiring one gives your in-game character power-ups and unique abilities.

We’ve seen quite a lot of different franchise in the past like the RPG-styled Angry Birds Epic and Angry Birds Star Wars that got its fans excited. The game will have a timely release with the new Transformers movie so we’re expecting both fans of the classic animation and of the game to bite into this.

The game, once it becomes available, will most likely be free just like its previous versions and will only charge players with in-app purchases.
