Cherry Mobile introduces Superion Radar Quad Plus tablet

Cherry Mobile is indeed won’t stop in releasing new devices for 2016 and the newest to be announced is an Android tablet.

cm-superion-radar-quadplus

The Superion Radar Quad Plus is a casual tablet with a 7″ IPS LCD and modest 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek chipset. It also has dual SIM slots for calls, text, and data connectivity. Our best guess here it is just limited on 3G bands. Running on the tablet is Android 5.1 Lollipop onboard.

The details posted through Cherry Mobile’s Facebook page is scarce, so we only know little about the new tablet. The tablet is now available nationwide for Php2,999.

Six Best Tablets For Your Kids Under Php 8k

Tablets are not just for adults. The vast content ecosystem of the Google Play Store also caters for the kids with child-friendly applications, books, and videos. Other than that, the Internet is a good place for interaction, communication, and discovery. Of course, we don’t want to give the kids expensive tablets like the iPad or Surface for just simple task and enjoyment. At the same time, they are not toddlers to have a V-Tech or a Leap Frog tablet.

Here are our top tablet picks for the kids that will break the Php 8k bank:

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20

lenovo-tab2-a7-20

This is the Wi-Fi only version of the same Tab 2 slate w/ 3G-connectivity featured on our Holiday Tablet Gift Guide. For those who just want to try out if your kid is ready to own a personal tablet, this is a good piece.

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 key specs:
7″ IPS LCD (1024 x 600 pixels), 170ppi

Android 4.4 KitKat (Upgradable to Android 5.0)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 V

samsung-tab3v

If you want to stick to something familiar for the kids, then Samsung has a budget tablet for Php 5,990. It’s a pretty basic slate with low-end internals but should be fine for everyday browsing and casual gaming. For its asking price, you can look for another tablet with slightly better specs but heck, it’s a Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 V key specs:
7″ TFT display (1024 x 600 pixels), 170ppi
1.3GHz Quad-core processor
1GB RAM + 8GB expandable storage

Android 4.4 KitKat

Acer Iconia One 8

acer-iconia-one-8

The Iconia One 8 is a fairly good tablet with its specifications. It even comes with an Acer Accurate Stylus for drawing or the kids can use any thin-tipped objects like pencil to sketch or write on the display. It’s pretty updated too with its Android 5.1 Lollipop software. It’s priced at Php 6,990.

nexus7-2013

Lastly, we would like you to check out the Nexus (2013) tablet from Google and ASUS. Yes, it’s a 2013 slate but during its era, it’s one of the best tablet and since it’s part of the Nexus line, you’ll get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update immediately. That’s something that most tablet in this range doesn’t have, plus a Full HD display. Its solid build is also a great consideration for the Php 7,995 price tag.

Google Nexus 7 (2013) key specs:
7″ IPS LCS (1920 x 1200 pixels), 323ppi
1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-core processor

Keep in mind that the use of the tablet should still be under the guidance of the parents or guardians. The kids are mostly interested in what the technology has for them and it will keep changing. Let’s also encourage them to play and enjoy the outdoors, but for the indoor activities and media consumption (either educational or entertainment) these tablets are up for the task. Just make sure to buy protective accessories like cases to help prolong the tablet’s life.

Tablet Gift Guide for Holiday 2015

Aside from smartphones, cameras, and notebooks, we’re also giving you a guide for your holiday gadget shopping for tablets. As we were checking stores and online listings, we found out that there are just a few notable tablets in the market today. It seems that the tablet game is slowly fading away in competition unlike smartphones. Still, tablets are good mobile companions so here are our picks.

2015GiftGuide-Tablets

We sorted them by pricing for easier reading based on your budget.

Below Php10k

Asus ZenPad C (web)

We begin with the Huawei MediaPad T1 7.0, a run-of-the-mill 7” tablet with 3G-connectivity and phone functionality for just Php 4,990. There’s also the Lenovo IdeaTab 2 A7-30, which is more business-like in design for Php 5,799. The Acer Iconia Talk 7 is also the same as the IdeaTab 2 w/ 3G but it has better cameras, bigger storage, and an updated Android 5.1 version for just Php 5,990. The ASUS ZenPad C is also a good buy for Php 5,995 and among the 3G-ready tablet mentioned earlier, this one is the best looking.

asus-zenpad-7-review-philippines-8

Let’s jump to tablets with HD screen starting with the Acer Iconia One 8 which has a bigger 8” display and an octa-core chipset for Php 6,990. The ASUS ZenPad 7.0 also has 3G-connectivity like its ZenPad C sibling but with a better display, higher memory and greater performance for Php 7,995. Also from ASUS, the Google Nexus 7 (2013) might be already 2-years old but since it’s a Nexus device, it is the cheapest Android 6.0 Marshmallow tablet in the local market starting at just Php 7,995 for the 16GB version and Php 9,995 for 32GB.

Windows tablets are also available for under 10k like the Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph with its large 10” display and included keyboard dock which is now for sale at just Php 5,999. There’s even a Dual Boot version with Android for Php 7,999. The Lenovo Miix 3 Tablet with its 7.85” IPS display and more business-oriented design is good for Php 8,998. You may also check out the Acer W4 with its included keyboard cover which now at Php 9,999 only.

Php10,000 – Php19,999

galaxy tab a_1

Moving up to the next bracket, we can have the Xiaomi Mi Pad for Php 10,999 with its crisp 7.9” IPS display, NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset, and expandable memory. If you’re a Sammy fanatic, you can check out their mid-range tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with an included S-Pen for note taking and sketching for Php 15,990. The high-end ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 is perhaps the most powerful tablet you can get for Php 16,995 with its 2K display, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Php20,000 – Php29,999

Galaxy Tab S2 Display

The Apple iPad Mini 4 starts at Php 20,490 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version. If you want the latest iPads, this is the cheapest of the bunch. Although, we suggest you get the 64GB version rather than the 16GB for just Php 25,490. Another similarly-sized slate is the flagship Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 which flaunts it skinny body and outstanding Super AMOLED display for Php 24,990 w/ 32GB of expandable storage. Jumping to the bigger Apple iPad Air 2 will cost Php 25,490 for the base 16GB Wi-Fi only version. Again, we suggest considering a bigger storage option for the iPads like the 64GB for Php 30,490. The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 also has a bigger sibling dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 that is priced at Php 29,990.

Php30,000 and above

sony-xperia-z3-tablet-compact-8

Investing on your tablet? Well, we still have tablets over the 30,000 mark. The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, with an 8.1” display and thin 6.4mm body, currently retails for a steep Php 31,990. It has Sony’s premium offerings like waterproofing, PS4 Remote Play, and Hi-Res Audio with Digital Noise Cancelling.

surface3-reviews

The Microsoft Surface 3 is also great buy at Php 34,999 through resellers but that’s the tablet only. The Type Cover is available for separate purchase and also the Surface Pen. The latest and grandest Apple iPad Pro is now officially offered in PH for Php 42,990 with 32GB of storage. Higher storage configuration will cost more. Also, the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil are extra cost. And finally, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z4 is the most expensive consumer tablet you can purchase for Php 45,740. With that, you’re getting a 10” 2K display with a claimed 130% sRGB coverage, Hi-Res Audio with Digital Noise Cancelling, the latest Snapdragon 810, and of course waterproofing. All in a slim 6.1mm body.

That’s it. We hope you can find a suited tablet for you. May it be for school, work, or just a personal slate. If you have any suggested tablets or good deals you want to share, don’t be shy and share it to all the readers via the comment section.
