If you’re thinking that the device that we’re reporting right now is knock-off from some Chinese company who got a hold of Sammy’s Galaxy SII mold, well think again. This SGS2 clone is actually from the South Korean firm’s stables and it goes by the name of Samsung Galaxy SII Plus.
So it seems like despite of the success that Samsung had with the SGSII, they still have a lot of unsold units which they decided to dust off and retail under a different name. The new, or we should say recycled handsets doesn’t really offer much of a difference from the first SGS2 (GT-i9100). So rather than showcase its specs in detail, we’ll just give you the main differences between the two.
• 32nm Exynos 4 Dual (GT-N9100 had the 45nm)
• Hyperglazed plastic back cover, same as the SGS3
• Android 4.1.2 out of the box
• Nature-inspired UI called Nature UX (SGS2 had TouchWiz UI)
• Optional NFC for some models
• New color variation (Chic White and Dark Blue)
The only key dissimilarity between the Galaxy S2 and the S2 Plus is the OS and the UI that accompanies it. I’m not sure about you, but if I’m a proud owner of the OG SGS2, I’d be furious to know that a slightly tweaked version of my handset already has Jelly Bean out of the box while I silently weep for the update to come to my 2 year old handset.
To call the changes made by Samsung on the SGS2 Plus insignificant is an understatement. We just don’t see the point why the company needs to release such handset, but we guess that’s one of the perks of being on top. You can get away with virtually anything.
