Oppo Find 7a gets TWRP custom recovery

The Philippines is one of the first few countries to see the Oppo Find 7a as it is not yet released in the United States. After a week of its local launch, a TWRP custom recovery is now supported by the device thanks to developers. Now, users of the Find 7a can manually backup and restore their entire handsets.

TWRP or TeamWin Recovery Project is a touch-based custom recovery tool that was originally made for Nexus devices. It didn’t last long, though, before it was made available for other smartphones and tablets. Using TWRP, not only could you fully backup and restore your Find 7a, but you can also wipe data and install custom roms with it.

We know how much Android users love rooting their smartphones and adding mods (after all, that’s one of the main reasons people prefer Android over iOS) so here’s the download link for Oppo Find 7a’s TWRP.

Once you’ve downloaded the .img file, follow the steps as instructed by TeamWin:

Go into settings and enable USB debugging. On your computer type:

adb reboot bootloader

Your device should now be in fastboot mode. Type the following command, changing the recoveryfilename to the correct path and name of the image you want to flash:

fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img

Note that you will need to change the last part to match the name of the file that you just downloaded. You will also need adb and fastboot for your computer.

OPPO N1 to be priced at Php26,990

OPPO will formally make its presence in the Philippines in April 10 and, along with it, 5 new Android-based smartphones including the Find 7 and the N1 with rotating camera.

The entire handset fleet will be officially launched on April 10 and we’ve got an early unit of the OPPO N1.

The OPPO N1 is very famous for its 180-degrees rotating rear camera. While all other smartphone brands are making the front-facing camera more powerful, OPPO decided to just rotate the 13-megapixel rear camera to the front along with its dual-LED flash.

OPPO N1 specs:
5.9-inch full HD IPS LCD @ 1920×1080 pixels, 373ppi
Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz quad-core
Krait 300
Adreno 320 Graphics
2GB RAM
16GB, 32GB internal storage
3G/HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
WiFi Direct, DLNA
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
13MP AF rear vcamera, dual-LED flash
13MP rotating front-facing camera, dual-LED flash
Color OS
Li-Ion 3610mAh battery
170.7 x 82.6 x 9mm (dimensions)
213 grams (weight)

And the suggested retail price is pegged at Php26,990 but it could change a bit before they officially announce in in April 10. We know it’s a bit steep, and that innovative rotating camera lone will not cut it, so we hope they’d reconsider.
