MMPC stages Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge

Putting the Mitsubishi Mirage, Mirage G4, and their class-leading features to the test yet again, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation conducts the first-ever Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge. Celebrity team leaders with two other college student teammates form six teams of three to go against each other in the hopes of winning and being dubbed as the first Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge Champions. Celebrity team leaders include the beautiful actress, Ellen Adarna; rock legend, Rico Blanco; actor and singer, Markki Stroem; volleyball superstar, Gretchen Ho; internet action star, Ramon Bautista; and the lovely Cheats lead singer, Saab Magalona.

Highlighting the fun, practicality, and functionality of the brand, the Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge brings about various challenges that require skill, intelligence, automotive capabilities, and use of the stand out features of the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4.

Follow the teams and witness them go through the challenges! The challenge begins on May 9 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, continues on May 16 at the Bonifacio Global City, and ends on May 30 at SM Mall of Asia. Points earned from each challenge and online votes will be accumulated to determine each team’s points.

The champion team takes home P100,000 each with the celebrity’s winnings donated to his/her charity of choice. 2nd place non-celebrity teammates receive P50,000 each, while the 3rd place non-celebrity teammates receive P30,000 each. The rest of the non-celebrity team members will receive a consolation prize of P10,000 each.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines announces change of leadership

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) announced the appointment of Mr. Yoshiaki Kato as its new President and Chief Executive Officer effective on April 1, 2015.

Mr. Kato will succeed Mr. Hikosaburo Shibata whose assignment in the Philippines commenced on April 1, 2011. In his four years of leadership, Mr. Shibata has contributed greatly in strengthening Mitsubishi Motors’ presence in the country. During his term MMPC achieved record breaking sales and continued its sales growth modestly improving the market share in spite of the aggressive and growing competition in the industry. Last year MMPC recorded an all-time high sales of 50,085 units. His remarkable leadership has motivated MMPC employees to further strive to achieve the company goals and beyond profit be able to give back to the community thru various Corporate Social Responsibility programs which he also spearheaded.

MMPC’s incoming President and CEO, Mr. Kato, graduated from the University of Tokyo and took post graduate studies at the Graduate School of Business, University of South Australia. His career started in 1988 and from then on he has held significant positions in several companies such as Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd. from 1996 to 2000 as well as from 2006 to 2011 and Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks and Bus Australia Pty. Ltd. from September 2003 to December 2005. After these assignments he then returned to Japan and took the post as expert of the Europe Department and was promoted as general manager of Europe Department in Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. He was also recently assigned in Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co. Ltd. as Executive Vice President for Corporate Global Unit. With this position he handled Corporate Strategy, Corporate Administration and Export Business.

Mr. Kato’s vast experience and education will be of valuable advantage as he heads MMPC. “I am very pleased to be assigned in MMPC and at the same time I am also challenged as it is vital to continue or further improve MMPC’s performance not only in sales but most importantly to be able to provide better services to every valued customers apart from the world-class vehicle that we offer”, he added. The Philippines is among the core market of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. With MMPC’s transfer to bigger plant in Sta. Rosa, MMC has announced its plan to further expand the business in the country. With the new President and CEO, MMPC is expected to be lead towards the realization of it business objectives and goals that will not only benefit the company but as well as its stakeholders.

Mirage Eco Dash game app’s top 10 players race one last time for a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage GLS

On March 22, 2015, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation will gather the ten best players of its Mirage Eco Dash game application to a culminating event that will see one lucky Mirage Eco Dasher drive off with a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage GLS (Manual Transmission). The finals will be held at the SM Mall of Asia parking grounds during the hotly-anticipated Mitsubishi Summer Expo.

 

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is the first ever car company in the Philippines to develop a game app with real world prizes and they have gone all-out in support of this game since its launch back in September 2014 during the 5th Philippine International Motor Show. Every month since the launch, the top 5 players of the game won brand new iPad Minis as they eagerly zoomed towards the grand prize.

 

In less than 6 months, Mirage Eco Dash reached nearly 10,000 downloads in both iOS and Android devices. This just goes to show how popular the game has become, given that it provided a chance to win a car just for playing. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines inaugurates its Sta. Rosa, Laguna Plant

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), one of the country’s leading automotive brands and with more than 50 years of automotive manufacturing experience in the Philippines inaugurates its new manufacturing plant located in a 21-hectare facility which it acquired last year in Greenfield Automotive Park in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The acquisition and transfer to Sta. Rosa, Laguna is part of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s (MMC) “New Stage 2016” Mid-term plan of reinforcing business in the Philippines as a core market following Thailand and Indonesia. This is in preparation for MMC’s further business development in the ASEAN countries.

MMC has recognized MMPC’s continuous strong performance and growth in the country in spite of the increasing market competition. The acquisition and transfer to Sta. Rosa plant is also MMPC’s preparation for further expansion triggered by the fast growing local automotive industry and increasing demand for brand new vehicles brought about by the stable Philippine economy which translates to the increasing per capita income of Filipinos and improving road infrastructures. With the new manufacturing plant MMPC can produce maximum of 50,000 units annually.

For the Sta. Rosa plant, MMPC will also be upgrading its equipment to further improve assembly process and quality to keep it at par with other Mitsubishi Motors assembly plants. One of which is an automated plastic parts paint robot which is the first of its kind in Philippine auto manufacturing process. This automated plastic parts painting will complement the top coat body spray robots for quicker and more consistent painting process. In addition, a sophisticated body measuring machine that provides high degree of consistency will soon be a part of the Sta. Rosa plant facilities. Apart from the new facilities and equipment, MMPC will now adopt the 3C 1B process (3 Coat 1 Baked) in its paint shop which increases the efficiency and environmental friendliness of the vehicle painting process.

With MMPC’s substantial contribution to the automotive industry translating it to the Philippine economy, key government officials will be present to witness the inauguration ceremony. His Excellency President Benigno Aquino III will be gracing this significant event together with Japan ambassador to the Philippines Kazuhide Ishikawa, and other prominent national and local government officials.

“The inauguration of MMPC’s new plant reflects our commitment to continue vehicle manufacturing operations in the Philippines at the same time prepare for further business expansion with the projected rapid increase in vehicle demand in the coming years.”, Mr. Hikosaburo Shibata, MMPC President and CEO said. “With this new and bigger plant we now have more opportunity to study production of new models. However, production of a new model should be supported by a sound auto manufacturing policy from the government that is supposed to strengthen competitiveness of local vehicle and parts manufacturing operations among other Asean production facilities.” he added. As MMPC continues its upbeat performance, the transfer to Sta. Rosa, Laguna is expected to provide a sizeable share in the local auto industry and the Philippine economy. This expansion will generate additional job opportunities and improved revenue not only to the company but as well as to its business affiliates such as dealers and suppliers. To date, MMPC employs more than nine hundred workers.

Last year, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines sold a total of 50,085 vehicles which is a historical sales record and at the same time reflecting 8th consecutive years of growth for the company. MMPC is poised to keep its strong position in the industry with its extensive vehicle line up and wide dealership network. MMPC intends to sell 62,000 units this year and will open up additional 5 new outlets in 2015.
