The competition will allow the students to experience first-hand the conceptualization up to the implementation of banking products with the aid of Maybank executives who will serve as their mentors throughout the competition. Maybank Switch Up will push the contestants to their limits as they are exposed to various strategic challenges to bring the business of banking to the next level amid the changing landscape and tightening competition in the market.

“Maybank Switch Up is an opportunity for the students to not only apply their strategic skills but also incorporate their creative ideas to come up with innovative plans that will create or enhance a bank product aimed to stand out in the highly regulated and continuously growing financial industry,” said MPI President and CEO Herminio M. Famatigan, Jr.

To join Maybank Switch Up, students may download the application form from http://maybk.co/8a026d and e-mail the accomplished form to switchup@maybank.com.ph.

Maybank Opens the first and only 24/7 bank branch in the Philippines!

Maybank Philippines, Inc. (MPI) last month turned the Maybank Resorts World branch into the first and only 24-hour bank branch in the country to provide better service to customers.

From its current extended banking hours of 8:00 a.m. to 11 p.m., the Maybank Resorts World branch is now operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week to primarily cater to the needs and financial requirements of business establishments and retail customers in the area.

“This is a first in the Philippines. We saw the need to open a 24/7 bank branch, particularly our Resorts World branch since it is situated where businesses in the area are open until wee hours in the morning,” said MPI President and CEO Herminio M. Famatigan, Jr.

“It is located in Maxims Hotel, which is part of the Resorts World complex. Guests of these establishments come in and out anytime of the day since most are tourists and their flights arrive from early mornings to late evenings. We saw this as an opportunity to introduce a first in the country—a 24/7 bank branch,” he added.

Mr. Famatigan noted that inter-branch transactions shall be entertained and accommodated from 8:00am to 10:00pm. “From 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., services of the Maybank Resorts World branch will be exclusive for the branch’s accountholders,” he said.

Maybank Philippines Launches 2014 Cahaya Kasih Programs

MPI PCEO Herminio M. Famatigan Jr.

Maybank Philippines, Inc. (MPI) successfully launched last May 9th its two banner initiatives for this year’s Cahaya Kasih Community Volunteerism Programme.

The launch-themed Handprints of Hope — was attended by nearly 200 Maybankers, from the MPI’s top management to the staff.

To fuel employee volunteerism among Filipino Maybankers and to live out the Maybank Group’s mission of humanising financial services, MPI PCEO Herminio M. Famatigan, Jr. rallied Maybankers to share a part of their time in serving MPI’s chosen communities beyond the four walls of their office.

The first project under this year’s Cahaya Kasih program is titled: “Deafying Silence.” It will be done in partnership with My Children’s House of Hope Inc. (Bantay Bata 127), a non-stock, non-profit organisation committed to transforming the lives of hearing impaired children and their families. The program will entail Maybankers to conduct workshops on dance, arts, and writing for the initial phase, while a financial literacy plan to benefit the families of the beneficiaries is being laid out for Phase 2. This project aims to use the creative arts as a channel to enhance the special talents, boost confidence, and encourage self-expression of the DEAF students of My Children’s House of Hope.

The second project, titled “My Happy Corner,” envisions to set-up small play corners in the rooms under the Pedriatric Cancer Wards of chosen hospitals. This program aims to provide supplemental intangible care to children diagnosed with cancer and enrich their hospital experience while undergoing treatment, in the hope that this will eventually assist in indirectly improving their health. Being eyed for the pilot is St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City, recipient of the children’s books donated by Maybankers, which were turned over in February 2014.

To conclude the event, each Maybanker placed their handprint on the Cahaya Kasih Commitment Wall as a symbol of their pledge to fully support the CK programs for this year.

Cahaya Kasih is an ongoing platform for Maybank employees to champion positive change affecting the organization, communities the Maybank Group has presence, and environment throughout South East Asia. It is also a channel for the Maybank Group to build strong foundation and relationships between communities that is vital to the Group’s growth.
