Lenovo Outs a Toned Down Version of Vibe P1 with 4000mAh battery

The Lenovo Vibe P1 is quite the crowd pleaser with its impressive specs sheet and monster battery pack. So much in fact, that it overshadowed its smaller, yet equally notable sibling the Lenovo Vibe P1m.

Compared to its bigger brother, the Vibe P1m has a smaller and lower-resolution panel, half the amount of on-board storage and 20% smaller battery pack rated at 4000mAh, which is far from a pushover.

Other than those three differences, most of the Vibe P1’s feature set was carried over to the Vibe P1m, making it an interesting proposition at $160. It will ship a month earlier than the Vibe P1, and is slated to make its market debut starting next month.

Intel Launches New Moorefield Mobile Processor

Amidst all the hype for the new Skylake processors, Intel quietly slips its new flagship processor, the Intel Atom Z3590, which is geared for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

Intel Atom Z3590 shares a lot in common with its predecessor, the Z3580. Both mobile processors are based on the same manufacturing process (22nm), and the same set of feature set which include support for up to 4GB of RAM, AES encryption, Smart Idle, SpeedStep and Intel Virtualization.

The Z3590 also sports the same quartet of processors based on Silvermont microarchitecture, and the same PowerVR G6430 graphics processing unit. The difference on the new model, however, is that it receives a 7% boost in burst clock speed rated at 2.5GHz, and a notable improvement on the burst frequency on its on-board GPU which tops out at 640MHz.

The new Intel Atom Z3590 has already made its way on some of the devices that were launched at IFA 2015 which include Asus ZenFone Zoom.

Asus VivoStick: $129 Compute Stick That Doesn’t Look Horrible

One can make the argument that Asus was a little to the Compute Stick party, but it didn’t stop the Taiwanese firm from unveiling its own take on the pocket-PC segment. The company’s first crack at it comes in the form of the Asus VivoStick, and we must say that it’s one of better-looking we’ve Compute Stick we’ve seen.

Apart from its leaner and more sophisticated design, the new Asus VivoStick runs on a better processor, an Intel Cherry Trail, compared to the one found on the Intel Compute Stick which we’ve featured here in the past.

One thing to note about the VivoStick is that it lacks a MicroSD card slot which would prove to be a great deal-breaker since these kind of devices only come with a measly 32GB on-board storage. In return though, Asus has added an extra USB port, a USB 3.0 at that, to allow users to plug in a hard drive to VivoStick and still have an open USB port left to hook in their input devices.

Asus VivoStick specs:

Intel Cherry Trail processor
Intel HD Graphics
2GB RAM
32GB Internal Storage
Expandable via USB
HDMI connector
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
Windows 10
Dimensions: 138 x 15 x 14mm
Weight: 70g
Colors: Blue, Black and White

Asus kept the VivoStick’s market debut under wraps during the launch event, although the company stated that the device will ship with a $129 SRP.
