Cultural Center of the Philippines holds Pasinaya 2014

Every year, the Cultural Center of the Philippines holds an open house for the public in a whole-day event called the Pasinaya.  I have known about the Pasinaya before but hasn’t experience one due to conflicting schedule. But this year, I have finally made an effort to come to the CCP mainly to watch the performances of my two favorite dance companies: The Bayanihan Dance Company and the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group.

Aliwan Fiesta 2014 Complete List of Winners

It’s finally over. The Aliwan Fiesta 2014 was once again a big success with thousands of people trooped to the Quirino Grandstand, Roxas Boulevard and Aliw Theater to witness the colorful presentations from thirteen festivals from all over the Philippines.

Aliwan Fiesta 2014 Photo Contest

Here’s the guidelines for this year’s Aliwan Fiesta 2014 Photo Contest. This year a new category has been added for the Best Selfie and Barkadahan Photo!

Eligibility

• Open to both amateur and professional photographers.
• Photos must have been taken on April 26, 2014, during the grand parade / dance showdown, and should not have won nor have been published in any manner of form;
• Participants may take part in either of two categories:

Digital/Film

• Those using digital or film-based cameras must print their entries full colour on any brand of photo paper in 8R size (8 inches x 10 inches)

• Manually retouched and/or painted over print outputs, and any form of major manipulation of the main image are not allowed, although. digital retouching on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping, burning, and dodging may be tolerated. Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure e.g. multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed.
• Maximum of three entries per photographer. Photographs must be of different dance contingents or floats.
• Each entry should be submitted together with two copies of the Aliwan Fiesta Photo Competition entry form, and a self-addressed, stamped Manila envelope. Each photograph will be given an entry number, which shall likewise be reflected on the entry form.
• The name of the photographer should not appear on the face of the entry.
• Entries should be submitted to Susan Arcega at the Manila Broadcasting Company office, Sotto Street, CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. (for details, call 555.3477)
• Deadline for submission of entries is on May 2, 2014 at 3 p.m.

Camfone/Tablet

• Photographic entries taken using any brand of mobile phone or tablet should be uploaded onto the official Aliwan Fiesta Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Aliwan-Fiesta/401674986642761) , along with details of the photographer’s name and email address;
• The photograph may either be a “selfie” or “barkada” shot taken with a contingent or float, but still capturing the fun and excitement of Aliwan Fiesta
• The photo with the most number of Likes by May 4, 2014 wins

Winning entries become the property of MBC, which will have the right to reproduce, exhibit, or publish the images for promotional purposes, indicating and acknowledging the photographer when possible. Non-winning photographs will be returned to the photographer, provided he or she submits a self-addressed, stamped brown envelope with the entry.

MassKara Preview: The Annual Mask and Costume Pre Judging Competition

This is probably one of the much awaited event in 3-week long celebration of the MassKara Festival. The MassKara Preview gives everyone a sneak peek of what to expect during the street dancing competition which is the highlight of the festival.

This year, thirty groups participated in the MassKara Preview, 19 from the Barangays, 7 elementary Schools and four from the secondary education department, all from Bacolod City.

Kruhaaay Antique Heritage Tour Day 1

Fact: I grew up in Bacolod City in the Province of Negros Occidental, and oveer the years, I was able to explore the other Provinces of Western Visayas, namely: Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan Capix, except for one: Antique. 

I did made several attempts to cross the border between San Jaquin Iloilo going to Anini-y Antique but nothing came it. All plans failed.
