Acer Aspire Switch 10: multi-mode Windows 8.1 tablet

Acer has just announced their own version of a multi-mode Windows 8.1 tablet, the Aspire Switch 10, that takes its inspiration from the Lenovo Yoga and the Transformer Book T100.

The aluminum-clad Aspire Switch 10 works like a 10-inch netbook with a detachable lid, much like the Transformer T100.

However, the lid can be re-attached back into the docking keyboard either facing front or back. When attached facing back, it can flip around (about 300 degrees) into the tablet mode just like the Lenovo Yoga.

The Aspire Switch 10 is powered by an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor running at 1.33GHz with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 64GB of flash storage.

Other specs include an IPS panel with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and an optional storage inside the keyboard dock of up to 500GB of HDD.

The Switch 10 will ship sometime in late May 2014 with a suggested retail price of $379 for the base configuration.
