Windows 10 Technical Preview now available for download

Microsoft has finally made available for download the Windows 10 Technical Preview. So if you’re one of those itching to try Microsoft’s upcoming OS then you might want to check this out.

Do note that this is an early build and as the name suggests it’s a preview. So there’s a good chance of bugs and compatibility issues. Microsoft recommends that you don’t install the preview on your primary home or business PC.

To download the Technical Preview you will need to sign up for the Windows Insider Program first by clicking here, then download the upgrade tool. Alternately you can also download the ISOs: 3.92GB for Windows 10 Technical Preview (x64), and 3.01GB for Windows 10 Technical Preview (x86).

Macaroni Salad

Filipino Macaroni Salad
Here is another of our family's (and a lot other Filipino familys') favourite holiday food. We almost never make it at any other time of the year except during the New Year holidays. Not even on Christmas; only in the New Year. I never knew why but it must be one of those traditions that was kept on just because that's what we always had.

This is a perfect example of the predilection of the Pinoy palate to crave for the salty-sweet-tangy sour flavour combination. That and together with the richness of the mayonnaise and pasta makes it so irresistible to me as a snack. Actually, you'll be hard-pressed to classify this as savoury or sweet. Because they're really both!

By the way, the Philippines practically only have spaghetti and elbow macaroni in the pasta aisles of its supermarkets. Whereas here, I cannot find decent sized and shaped elbow macaroni. I have to either go to Italian delis or trek to Waitrose where, fortunately, I found this Chiferri Rigate pasta.

Macaroni Salad

500 g elbow macaroni pasta
2 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken meat
1/3 cup pickle relish
1/3 cup finely minced celery
1 1/2 cups canned pineapple chunks in syrup - well drained
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup finely minced cooked carrots
1/3 cup finely minced onion (optional)
1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)
3 cups mayonnaise
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Combine all in a bowl and mix well. Chill in the fridge for a few hours before serving.

Epson unveils next-gen Technical Drawing printers

Epson has launched its next-generation T-Series Technical Drawing printers which the company claims are designed to deliver high speed, high performance, and high precision printing for the engineering, architecture, and Geographic Information System (GIS) markets.

The new new batch of T-Series printers have retained well-received features from the first generation like large waste tanks, ‘permanent’ print heads, and a choice of cost-effective ink cartridges. Of course, the company also included a slew of new features. Some of which include:

  • New PrecisionCore Thin Film Piezo (TFP) print head technology – delivers speed and high quality output (28 seconds to print A1-size page/2880 maximum dpi resolution)
  • Variable-Sized Droplet Technology – reduces ink consumption
  • Ultra-low running costs/power consumption

According to Epson, the new lineup has also been enhanced with a faster processor, 1GB of memory that comes as standard, and an option of a 320GB hard drive.

Prints

The new T-Series range consists of the 24-inch SureColor T3200, 36-inch SureColor T5200, 36-inch Dual-Roll SureColor T5200D, 44-inch SureColor T7200, and 44-inch Dual-Roll SureColor T7200D. Complementing those is an optional large format 36-inch scanner which enables configuration of a complete multi-function solution for high-resolution scan, copy, and share.
