Samsung Galaxy S6 to have a curved screen?

As Samsung’s newest flagship is set to be announced soon, rumors have been floating around that the Korean giant is creating the successor to the Galaxy S5 in two variations, one of which has a curved screen.

The curved-screen variant of the new flagship is reported to be similar to the Galaxy Note Edge smartphone released last year. We all know that the Note Edge’s curved screen functions independently as a placeholder for quick shortcuts and on-screen actions available on the device.

Another variation is set to be made with an all-metal unibody, which might be similar to its Galaxy Alpha and A-series smartphones. This is a huge departure from its current polycarbonate plastic design language that paved the way for the success of its former banner devices such as the Galaxy S3.

Last December, an AnTuTu benchmark of a G925F device sporting 3GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution similar to the LG G3, 32GB of internal storage made the rounds on tech cyberspace. (READ MORE: Is Samsung G925F the new Galaxy S6?)

Samsung is definitely taking a different approach to its flagship devices after decreasing sales and reported losses in 2014, the first in three years. We shall see with that, as the company is set to announce the new flagship at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in March.

Data shows Android users are hornier than iOS users

After seeing that Philippines ranked among the top viewers of the number one porn site Pornhub, the data released by them also shows that most of these are Android users rather than iOS and other platforms. We have the breakdown after the break.

Their statistics point out that desktop users have been overtaken by mobile users, and from this, almost 50% are Android users. Apple’s iOS is second at 40%, while Windows, other platforms, and BlackBerry are at 2.6%, 6%, and 1.4%, respectively. Check out the graph below.

But although Windows only has less than 3% of share, it had the biggest change in mobile OS traffic from 2013 – 2014 which saw a 52% growth. BlackBerry users, on the other hand, plummeted down by 47.6%.

GoPro HERO4 to get new features from a free update

For those that already own the latest action camera from GoPro, you’d be happy to know that the two variants of the HERO4 will receive new features from an update free of charge!

goprohero4b

TechCrunch was able to talk to a staff from GoPro at CES which gave a rundown on the update:

Coming to both (Black and Silver) models:

  • Time Lapse Video — GoPro cameras have pretty much always done time lapse stuff, but they’ve always come out as a series of photos that you had to manually put together into a video. You can now save your time lapse as a video automatically, instead.
  • 30/6 Burst mode Snap 30 photos in six seconds. While the HERO4 can already shoot as fast as 30 photos in one second, this mode is meant for snapping photos of sports with crazy long airtimes, like snowboarding or dirtbiking.
  • Auto-rotate: A feature I’ve wanted in a GoPro for years. The camera can now sense if it’s mounted upside down, and auto-rotate video accordingly. According to a beta tester we spoke to about the update, the orientation will lock as soon as you hit record (otherwise, it’d flip all over the place mid-video)

Meanwhile, each model is getting a few unique tweaks.

Coming to just the HERO4 Black:

  • 240 FPS video recording at 720p for super slowmotion but still high-res stuff
  • 60 FPS video recording at 2.7k

Coming to just the HERO4 Silver:

  • The ability to mark highlights while recording by tapping the touch screen. Makes it easier to scrub right to the good stuff when you’re recording for hours at a time.

Coming this February, both the Silver and Black edition GoPro will get these new features after downloading the update. For the local pricing of the HERO4 models, simply click here.
