MyPhone slips Rio Junior TV to its offering

As part of the company’s Halloween initiative, MyPhone released a simple banner showcasing all the existing smartphones under the Rio lineup. But this seemingly ordinary picture turns out to be a teaser for its upcoming device called the MyPhone Rio Junior TV.

At the time of posting, little is known about the still-unannounced handset other than its cheap SRP which is pegged at Php1,899.

Upon closer inspection of the picture, it seems that the Rio Junior TV shares the same screen size of its the Rio Junior which is right beside it on the Halloween campaign picture.

Judging by its naming and price tag, we won’t be surprised if the Rio Junior TV will also have the same configuration as the handset’s non-TV sibling.

Add 128GB on your Macbook with an mDrive Adapter

We recently got a Macbook Air which had a 128GB SSD drive. Coincidentally, the folks from Adam Elements sent us an mDrive adapter for the Air.

The Adam mDrive is basically an adapter for a Macbook Air and Macbook Pro to expand external storage via the SD card slot.

It is the same size as a regular SD card and a cradle that fits a microSD card inside. The adapter then plugs into the SD card slot of the Mac and the OS detects the new additional storage as a separate drive.

The idea is simple and quick it’s similar to just plugging a 128GB SD card into the slot. The mDrive merely makes this process seamless by creating a cradle that fits into the slot perfectly — nothing protruding, whatsoever.

They’ve even added an aluminum edge finish so that the slot would look and feel like its part of the body of the Macbook (but there’s red and blue as well).

What’s a bit confusing is that it’s not just a single card solution. There are different mDrives for different models and iteration of the Macbook. That means an mDrive might work for a late 2013 Macbook Air but not on a 2014 Macbook Air (a table for model compatibility can be found here).

Th resulting storage will not be as fast as the SSD in your Macbook Air so considered it as merely a secondary drive for non-essential files. The mDrive is just an adapter so you’ll have to buy a microSD card separately.
