Nescafe releases Wake Up app for Android and iOS

If your alarm clock isn’t motivation enough for a wake up call, then your asking your friends might just do the trick. This new Wake Up app can do just that, sort of.

The Nescafe Wake Up app is a simple and customizable digital alarm clock for iOS and Android devices.

The app is actually pretty simple. Just sign up with your Facebook account, record a 10-second video and save. You can invite Facebook friends and add them to your list or directly share your recorded videos with them.

To use the alarm, just select a time of the day (in 5 minute intervals) and select which of your videos or shared videos from your friends you want to use as the alarm.

Once the alarm hits the time, you get an alert and your friend’s video will play. It’s a simple yet fun app you may want to check out here (search for Nescafe Wake Up in iTunes App Store or Google Play). Or visit Nescafe PH on Facebook here.

Update: If you downloaded the Wake Up app, you can also join their contest to win Php100,000 in cash just by sending videos via the app. Check the mechanics here.

Vertu Aster specs:
4.7-inch Full HD display @ 1920 x 1080 resolution, 473ppi
Reinforced with sapphire crystal
2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor
64GB internal storage

The Aster’s body is a hand-made combination of hardened titanium and leather (or exotic skins like snake skin) with a red ‘ruby’ key on the side. Initially expected on the iPhone 6, it flaunts a full-on sapphire display which is the next hardest material to diamond.

It basically has a very stylish design with a premium build, and we know that a smartphone something like this would come at a rather hefty price tag. The Aster starts at $6,900 or roughly Php310K and reaches up to $9,700 or Php434K depending on the model – this is one phone you wouldn’t want to just accidentally lose. (Want something more expensive? How about the Php495K-worth Vertu Signature Touch?)

Smart now offers Prepaid Data Roaming for Php500/day

Smart has just enabled international data roaming for prepaid subscribers with unlimited daily mobile internet access for only Php500 per day.

It has taken a long time for Smart to offer this to 99% of its subscribers so we believe its prepaid subscribers will be glad to know they can use data romaing abroad.

The prepaid data roaming is currently limited to a few countries:

  • Hong Kong (Hutchison)
  • Indonesia (Indosat)
  • Japan (NTT DoCoMo)
  • Macau (Hutchison)
  • Malaysia (DiGi, CelCom)
  • Singapore (Starhub)
  • South Korea (KTF)
  • Taiwan (FET)
  • Thailand (True Move)
  • Vietnam (Vinaphone)

To activate prepaid data roaming:

1) Make sure to have at least Php500 load in your prepaid SIM.
2) Text ROAM ON then send to 333 before leaving the country. This activates SMS roaming at first so you can get signal from roaming partner abroad.
3) Once abroad, dial *133# to access the USSD Menu. Press ANSWER then enter 5 to choose DATA ROAMING.
4) Select the country and partner telco, then choose the ALL-DAY SURF ABROAD 500.

You should get a confirmation once subscribed. It is important to note that the roaming availment is valid from 12:00 midnight to 11:59PM of the same day. Hence, if you arrive at 10:00PM in the partner country and subscribed to roaming, you can use it for just 2 hours until 11:59PM.

You also need to subscribe to prepaid data roaming on a daily basis so make sure you have enough prepaid load when you go abroad.

This roaming service does not include Pinoy Roaming SIM and TnT subscribers.
