Edsa Shangri-La, Manila Presents ICON Wine Dinner

Discerning wine lovers are in for a mammoth treat as Edsa Shangri-La, Manila introduces ICON, an exclusive wine dinner – the first of its kind to date – at the hotel’s famed Paparazzi restaurant on August 19, 2014, 7:00 p.m. The wine dinner rate is set at PHP 5,888 net, and includes pre-dinner cocktails and canapés.

General manager Patrick Schaub welcomes guests as Paparazzi presents six of the most prestigious Australian wineries – Jim Barry Wines, Vasse Felix, Pewsey Vale Eden Valley, Yalumba, John Duval Wines and Henschke. Each of the iconic wineries is showcasing its curated selection of colossal wines, brought together to create an unprecedented show-stopping experience.

Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s executive chef Warren Brown prepares a riveting five-course menu for this momentous gastronomic concierto. A refreshing salad of Maine lobster with fennel vichyssoise is paired with a Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 2011, and a starter of beef ravioli with pan-seared foie gras with a Yalumba the Octavius Barossa Old Vine Shiraz 2006. An entrée of vine smoked monkfish larded with sausage and truffle is married with a John Duval Eligo Shiraz 2009, while a main course of venison with red currant sauce and horseradish is complemented by a Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2008 and a Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 2006. For dessert, a poached vanilla pear tart is served with chocolate frangipane and coco nib ice cream, and paired with a Yalumba Handpicked FSW8B Botrytis Viognier 2012. The meal is capped off with coffee or tea and home-made petit fours.

The special wines presented in the ICON wine dinner are exclusively imported by the Philippine Wine Merchants.
