How to purchase apps on Google Play using your Globe prepaid credits

Globe Telecom rolled out a new feature called Direct Carrier Billing that allows its subscribers to directly purchase from the Google Play Store and charge it to the customer’s postpaid account or prepaid load. If you still haven’t tried it out using prepaid, here’s how to do it.

1. Go to Google Play Store and find the app you want to purchase. Tap on the price then tap on Enable Globe Telecom billing.

Congratulations! You have successfully purchased an app from the Google Play Store using your prepaid credits. You can also do this for in-app purchases. Google Play will then send you a text message and an e-mail that will serve as proof of purchase.

Important notes:

* Google Play will give you a 2-hour free trial period to decide if you want to keep your purchase or be refunded.

* Refund after the 2-hour free trial period will be processed within 7 days.

* No refund for in-app purchases.

We also monitored how much the whole transaction will cost us by doing a balance check before and after the purchase. The Fragment app by Pixite LLC costs Php87.20 but deducted Php97.66 from our prepaid load. That’s Php10.46 on top of the app’s asking price.

Beyond the chika of weddings

“Weddings are a few of most people’s favorite things. The grander the wedding and the more prominent or powerful the wedding parties – we are all the more interested and hooked. When politicians marry, however, the event often involves two levels of union — between the families of the bride and groom, and between their political clans or allies or parties.” – MoneyPolitics report, “When politicians wed,” May 2013

NOTHING captures the imagination of people more than weddings – from royalty to showbiz personalities to politicians and actors or actresses – this Church sacrament or civil rite that promises blissful togetherness is to sure to get us interested.

The recent wedding engagement of Philippine Senator Francis Escudero and actress Heart Evangelista had the dominant and social media abuzz. Everyone, it seems, had been a part of the Chiz-Heart romance – since the 44-year-old Escudero confirmed his relationship with Evangelista, who is 15 years his junior, to the estrangement of Heart from her parents who made no secret of their distaste for Chiz.

And, like a fairy-tale romance, despite the odds, Chiz and Heart will finally wed, making their story all the more interesting for Filipinos who are, rightly or wrongly, perceived as romantics.

History is replete with stories of the weddings of politicians. In its story “When politicians wed,” PCIJ also listed some of the celebrity weddings between personalities and politicians including:

Ninoy-Aquino-Cory-CojuangcoBenigno A. Aquino Jr. to Corazon Sumulong Cojuangco in 1954, which remains as one of the most famous political weddings in Philippine history

Ferdinand-Marcos-Imelda-Romualdez

Ferdinand E. Marcos, a member of the 3rd Congress who would later become president and dictator, and Imelda R. Romualdez

Ralph-Recto-Vilma-Santos

Ralph G. Recto who married movie actress Vilma Santos

Dodot-Jaworski-Mikee-Cojuangco

Robert Vincent Jude ‘Dodot’ Jaworski Jr. and movie actress Mikaela Maria Antonia ‘Mikee’ R. Cojuangco

Jules-Ledesma-Assunta-de-Rossi

Julio ‘Jules’ A. Ledesma IV and movie star Assunta de Rossi

Gerardo-Roxas-Judy-Araneta

Gerardo L. Roxas, son of President Manuel A. Roxas, and Judy L. Araneta, who comes from a family of hacienderos in Western Visayas

  • Francis N. Pangilinan and singer Sharon G. Cuneta
  • Manuel ‘Mar’ A. Roxas II and TV host Korina Sanchez
  • Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ F. Zubiri and movie star Audrey Tan

Hoverbike prototype is world’s first flying motorcycle

Hoverbike is an ambitious project that aims to create a flying motorcycle. The initial prototype below looks like a podracer from one of those Starwars movies.

hoverbike

The Hoverbike uses a 1170cc air-cooled, twin 4-stroke engine and weighs 105kg but can carry as much as 270kg. Theoretical speed is about 150 knots (270km/hour).

The Hoverbike combines the simplicity of a motorbike and the freedom of a helicopter to create the world’s first flying motorcycle. When compared with a helicopter, the Hoverbike is cheaper, more rugged and easier to use – and represents a whole new way to fly. The Hoverbike flies like a quadcopter, and can be flown unmanned or manned, while being a safe – low level aerial workhorse with low on-going maintenance.

The project requires crowd-funding to the amount of £30,000 million but has already gotten a little over £48,000.

You can check out the design and development process here and also make a pledge.
