Acer unveils its first Intel-powered Android smartphone

Acer has unveiled its latest and first mid-range Android smartphone that is powered by a single-core Intel Atom processor – the Liquid C1.

Acer-Liquid-C1

The Acer Liquid C1 packs a 4.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 which equates to 256ppi. Like its sibling, the Liquid E1, it has a 5 megapixel camera, VGA front-facing, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage with microSD support, HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1. However, it is powered by a single-core 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 Lexington CPU with Hyper-Threading support and a larger 2,000 mAh battery. The only downside is it runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. No official news yet on Jellybean upgrade.

The Acer Liquid C1 has a price tag of $335 or almost Php14,000 and will be available in black and white. It will go on sale first in Thailand this month followed by the rest of the South East Asian markets.

Apart from its touchscreen display, there isn’t much of a difference between this Ultrabook (UX31A) and its non-touchscreen sibling (UX31). Having said this, our review of the Asus Zenbook may help you to be a little acquainted with the Zenbook Touch.

As mentioned earlier, the Asus Zenbook Touch can be had for Php76,992 which can be paid either by cold hard cash or installment for 12 months (Php6,416/month).

3G-enabled 7” tablet under Php11k

If you’re searching for a budget Android tablet with 3G connectivity, then Asianic’s Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite offer might be of interest to you. Specs and promo details can be found after the jump.

GPS w/ aGPS support
mini-HDMI output
3.15MP autofocus camera
VGA front-facing camera
720p video capture
4100mAh battery, up to 6 hours
Android ICS

Asianic is offering the Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite for Php10,900. Walk-in customers can also avail of their 12 or 6 months 0% interest installment plan which will result into a monthly payment of Php971 and Php1,816 respectively. Note though that by opting for the 12 months installment the price of tablet will increase a bit (Php11,652).

One would argue that other tablets of the same size and value (maybe even less) have far superior specs than the MediaPad 7 Lite. And while we don’t contest that notion, we’d like to point out that only a few 7-inchers offer built-in 3G capability at this price point, making the tablet a viable option to consider for people who consider such feature as a must-have.

Pampanga Food Tour, and more than that!

I have been dying to do a Pampanga Food Tou on my own, or join a Tour Group. Then around 10:30PM Tuesday night, while I was busy working, Robbie called me on the phone, asking if I have anything to do last Wednesday. “Wala, naman. Bakit ano meron” I said.

We continued our conversation. Later he told me that there will be a Pampanga Food Tour the next day. I got so excited! Then a few minuts later I got another surprise. He texted “The camera crew of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” will be with you so thduring the whole tour.

Hmmmmm Okay…
