Chicken Delish @ Midnight Mercato Wednesdays

Chicken Delish

It’s all systems go as far as my fried chicken brand is concerned ;) In fact, I’ve opened my first store front in Caltex Better Living (more on that later). Am setting my sights on Project: Retire from the Corporate Jungle early on, and of course fulfill my wish of seeing my youngest daughter Lucia’s growing up years. Going into business (where I can have my own time) is proving to be an irresistible option.

And guess what? I still love selling in the weekend markets. Make it weekday since you can find me at Midnight Mercato Wednesdays now (at least for the next few weeks). I was so excited to conquer the Fort and join this market, but the opening night last Feb. 29 was ghastly quiet. I spent the night chatting & taking pictures with my favorito publicist Franco Santos and Adrian of Bridges PR who were kind enough to drop by.

Last week was a marked improvement since the number of people attending the market tripled. I think most of them are the call center crowd. Among my fellow vendors, I was glad to see familiar faces like Crystal Tremblay of Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen. Their Panzarotti booth has the nicest design, IMHO.

And of course their food is also good. Think of panzarotti as the Italian version of empanada, only bigger than the local variety. They have superb fillings like pepperoni, mozzarella, pomodoro & Italian sausage. Only P120 per serving.

My immediate neighbor, Muy Bien by Chef Papi, also has the most sinful crispy binagoongan with boiled talong (eggplant) and a salad of green mangoes and tomatoes. This dish makes me wanna grab a full cup of steaming white rice pronto! I think I’ll keep on ordering this, if only because I love liempo :)

Juana Bowl is a familiar fixture in the markets. Their ribeye steak is to die for, and cheap at only P190.

Shabu shabu by Lu Chi is our new favorite. Hot soup topped with various kinds of dimsum is so heartwarming :)

I also saw a nice Vietnamese lady selling banh mi and cha gio. I guess am trying out her fare soon.

Hubby and I kid each other that whatever we earn in the market, we also spend buying on other vendors’ food. I guess joining the markets is one thing you shouldn’t do if you’re a compulsive foodie. But as I always say: no regrets :)

See you at Midnight Mercato Wednesdays!
