Uber Manila will give today’s earnings to families of SAF troops

To commemorate today as a National Day of Mourning, transportation service Uber is dedicating all their earnings for the entire day to families of the SAF (Special Action Force) men who have met their unfortunate deaths in an encounter in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

On January 25, the SAF troopers encountered the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) during a covert operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao. This resulted in the death of 44 elite police commandos and leaving a dozen others wounded. In lieu of this tragic event, the government declared today, January 30, 2015 as a National Day of Mourning.

According to the company, they share the sadness and grieve for the families of our fallen brothers.

“Uber Manila shares in the grieving of the families and loved ones of our fallen countrymen. Today, all of Uber’s proceeds from the trips you take will be donated to the Land Bank of the Philippines account specifically set up by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to aid the families of the men whose lives were lost in Sunday’s operation,” the company said.
