Facebook launches Reactions, a more expressive Like button

Today Mark Zuckerberg, on its Facebook page, announces the launch of its Reactions feature — a test function that lets users give more than a Like on anyone’s post.

Facebook users have wanted a dislike button for a long time now and this is the company’s response after spending a lot of time planning and putting their minds together. They understand that not all posts are positive, which sometimes the Like button is unfit to be used for. With this new feature, they aim to provide users a better way of expressing what they feel for each post.

Reactions gives you new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness. It’s not a dislike button, but it does give you the power to easily express sorrow and empathy — in addition to delight and warmth. You’ll be able to express these reactions by long pressing or hovering over the Like button.

The said feature is rolling out to Ireland and Spain as a form of beta testing before making it available to everyone. Watch the 30-second video above to see how it works.

Bigger thumbs up for bigger approval – Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger rolls out two new features in its latest update: A bigger-than-usual thumbs up and the ability to record and send videos without going out of the app.

rambo thumbs up

An ordinary thumbs up doesn’t quite express what you’re feeling? Send a bigger thumbs up with Facebook Messenger!

We all know about the thumbs up button in Messenger but the new “big like” feature, as the name suggests, lets you send a bigger thumbs up to your contacts. It seems unnecessary for Facebook to include this, but they might be thinking of the importance to fully express the users’ approval over chat so they squeezed this in. Kidding aside, just long press the like button to send a big thumbs up to your friends.

That’s not what the update is all about, though. There’s also the more useful recording of 15-second videos that you now can do on Facebook Messenger. Prior to this you can only attach a video from your gallery, but the incorporation of using the in-app camera is more efficient and time-saving.

If you want these added functions on your Facebook Messenger, head on over to the App Store or Google Play to get the latest update. This way, you can start recording videos or begin annoying your contacts by sending them overly-sized thumbs ups.
