New sandwiches at IHOP BGC

Who can resist comfort food? It’s always nice to come home to the Philippines’ only IHOP at BGC (Bonifacio Global City) for you. I avoided this place when it was new and the lines were long. It was still crowded when we went there on a weekday night but the lines are gone. So, we’re back to attack….

Duo of eggs, hash browns, pork sausage links and bacon…. the classic breakfast which you can take any time of day in this resto.

1st IHOP in the Philippines opens Feb 15! (updated)

ihop logo

I’ve been seeing a lot of searches for IHOP in this blog which only means that the people of Manila can’t wait to taste the heavenly pancakes and more at IHOP. Well I guess the waiting won’t take so long because the first branch of ihop opens in Bonifacio Global City post-Valentine’s. The doors open at 6 am, Feb. 15 (today) to be exact.

It will be only be a soft opening but expect the crowd to be full already. We’ve been told that IHOP Philippines will adopt the same menu as those in the US. Aside from the the usual breakfast stuff like pancakes, omelettes, waffles and French toast, there will also be fried chicken, burgers, steak & eggs, also the new under 600 calorie meals for the health conscious.

The full report when we try what IHOP BGC has to offer in the press preview…

Okay, here’s what we ate. Pancakes of course!

ihop strawberry

On the table: the New York Cheesecake Pancakes topped with luscious strawberries and whipped cream topping (P285). Ihop’s trademark buttermilk pancakes are the fluffiest ever, I think they have their own secret recipe for this. I’ve never been to IHOP in America so just one bite and I knew it was magic.

The Cinn-A-Stack pancakes (P235) were my favorite actually because the cinnamon roll filling was yummy and made a good combination with the heavenly batter. This stack was finished off with cream cheese icing and whipped topping.

ihop pancake

The Funny Face is on the kids’ menu for P165. Obviously, this pancake is meant to please the young ‘uns with its smiley frosting, filling of chocolate chips inside the pancake and maraschino cherries on the eyes. :)

ihop funny face

The best thing about eating pancakes at IHOP, they have these selection of syrups which you can freely slather on your plate. Choose between strawberry, blueberry, butter pecan and old-fashioned!

The Ihop Philippines menu is very extensive and they also offered this Spinach & Mushroom Omelette (P265) which I loved. Good for vegetarians, this one has fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese. Outside, it’s drizzled with rich hollandaise sauce and diced tomatoes.

Congratulations to Global Restaurant Concepts Inc. headed by CEO Archie Rodriguez (leftmost) and CFO Griffith Go (second from right) for successfully launching the first IHOP in the Philippines and Asia! We will be back after the crowds have passed ;)
