HTC One M9+ Now Official

Only a month has passed since HTC took the wraps off their new flagship, the
HTC One M9, now the Taiwanese firm unveiled that handset’s slightly beefed up sibling dubbed as the HTC One M9+.

Looking at its specs sheet alone, there’s really not much a difference between the M9 and the M9+ apart from the display which is a tad bigger and has a significantly better resolution.

HTC One M9+ key specs:
5.2-inch Super LCD3 Quad-HD screen, 2560 x 1440 @440ppi
Corning Gorilla Glass 4
2.2GHz MediaTek MT6795T octa-core processor
PowerVR G6200 GPU
3GB RAM
Expandable 32GB of internal storage
Supports up to 128GB microSD
20.7MP + 2.1MP rear cameras with dual-tone flash
4MP HTC UltraPixel front camera
LTE, 3G
WiFi 802.11ac
Bluetooth 4.1 w/ A2DP aptX
GPS w/ A-GPS, GLONASS
NFC, IR Blaster
USB On-The-Go support
FM Radio
Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7
HTC BoomSound with Dolby Surround Sound
2840mAh battery

Another thing that’s changed is the processor. Instead of taking the usual route of going for a top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HTC chose to equip the HTC One M9+ with an octa-core processor from MediaTek that can reach a blistering 2.2Ghz at top speed.

There’s currently no word about the pricing and availability date of the HTC One M9+, or if the handset will be sold outside of China. Nevertheless, those who are interested in getting one can choose between three color options: Amber Gold, Gunmetal Gray and Silver Gold.

HTC One (M9) to Sport Two 20.7MP Rear Cameras

HTC doesn’t seem to have a care in the world if users consider their dual-camera setup to be more of a marketing gimmick than an actual purposeful addition to their smartphone’s arsenal, as they are once again rumored to include a secondary rear camera on their next flagship handset. This time though, it’s believed to have the same resolution, 20.7-megapixel, as the main camera.

According to the folks over at LaptopMedia, the information regarding the dual-20.7MP camera setup has been confirmed by an “HTC staff”. If true, this will be a huge step up from the company’s current hero smartphone which only has a 4-UltraPixel secondary rear camera.

The same personnel also claims that although the Taiwanese firm has replaced the second rear camera with 20.7MP sensor, HTC has not totally given up on their UltraPixel technology and will instead use that on the HTC One M9’s front-facing snapper which is then paired with a fast f/2.0 glass.

Other rumored specification of the HTC’s upcoming flagship smartphone includes a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. It is also said that it will feature a 5-inch 1080p display and will run on Android Lollipop masked underneath the HTC Sense 7.0 user interface.

Even though the leaked information seems legit, we can’t totally discard the possibility that this is just another story to fuel the rumor mill. So do take these speculations with your usual grain of salt.

HTC could introduce smartphone with 20MP cam and first smartwatch

Slated to be announced during MWC 2015 this March, Bloomberg reports that the Taiwanese company HTC is gearing up to release the successor of the One (M8). Not only that, they could also be celebrating their first venture into the wearable scene by introducing their first smarwatch.

Bloomberg’s source points out that the codenamed HTC One (M9) will replace the UltraPixel technology seen on the M8 with a 20-megapixel sensor. The UltraPixel camera will then be moved from the rear camera to the front — giving users bigger-than-average pixel sizes that works well in low light areas.

Specs-wise, the M9 would look much like the M8  in terms of design and size, with gold, gray, and silver variants according to the source. In addition, it is expected to run on a Snapdragon 810 CPU, a Dolby 5.1 audio technology, and the company’s latest Sense 7 UI.

As for the company’s first-ever smartwatch, it will run with Under Armour Inc.’s fitness service which they have partnered with earlier this month. Apart from possibly launching it side-by-side the new smartphone, that’s pretty much everything what the source said about the smartwatch.

We really enjoyed our time with the HTC One (M8) which urges us to have high expectations for the M9 once it’s unveiled. Stay tuned for more upcoming details.
