10 New FreeSync-Enabled Monitors Unveiled in CES

Nearly two months after our trip to Singapore for the AMD #FutureOfCompute conference, the chipmaker, along with technology partners, have unveiled the first wave of monitors that will feature AMD’s display technology called FreeSync.

AMD FreeSync

The new FreeSync-enabled panels, which was manufactured BenQ, LG, Nixeus, Samsung and Viewsonic, come in a variety of sizes and resolutions in the hopes on giving consumers a perfect monitor that would suit their needs.

Here are the list of monitors with AMD FreeSync that were announced:

Apart from LG’s two new FreeSync panels, the rest of the monitors that were launched currently don’t have an SRP or any details of when it’s going to be available in the market. Nevertheless, we can expect that these FreeSync-equipped monitors will be more competitively priced compared to its G-Sync counterparts like the new RoG PG27AQ.

Samsung Announces FreeSync-enabled UHD Monitors

W Hotel, Singapore – As part of the AMD #FutureofCompute event, Joe WC Chan of Samsung announces two new monitors, the UE590 and UE850, that will support AMD FreeSync technology right off the bat.

For the uninitiated, AMD FreeSync is a royalty-free technology that reduces, if not eliminates, screen tear which is usually caused by the non-optimized communication between the monitor and the graphics card.

When paired to a GCN 1.1 graphics card (or any AMD graphics card from here on out), a FreeSync monitor connected via DisplayPort should provide a smoother gameplay that doesn’t come at the cost of lag which we all saw with V-Sync.

Samsung is the first manufacturer that announced an Ultra-High Definition monitor that supports FreeSync out of the box. The UE590 comes in two sizes 23.6-inch and 28″. Meanwhile, the UE850 will be available in 23.6, 27 and 31.5-inch variants.

Pricing and availability were not announced during the launch event.
