Akamai has recently published their Second Quarter 2014 ‘State of the Internet’ Report, showing that the Internet speed here in the Philippines now averages at 2.5Mbps.
Based on the Q2 2014 report, the Philippines now averages at 2.5Mbps with a year-on-year increase of 58% and a Global Rank of 103.
Peak speed is now at 21.6Mbps with a year-on-year increase of 35% and a Global Rank of 85.
For comparison, Akamai’s report for Q1 2014 only showed the Philippines at an average of 2.1Mbps with a year-on-year increase of 49% and a Global Rank of 105. Peak speed during that quarter is at 18.8Mbps with a Global Rank of 78. See table below.
When it comes to High Broadband Connectivity for Q2, the report shows that 8.3% of users have average speeds of above 4Mbps, while only 0.7% and 0.2% have 10Mbps and 15Mbps, respectively.
