Privacy has always been an issue for Facebook users. Especially to those who are not aware of the scope of their posts. Before, all new users of the popular social-networking site have post settings set for “Public” sharing by default. Good thing this is now fixed.
Facebook amended the default settings for new users. All new ‘posters’ will be reminded to properly set their privacy settings for posting statuses. If they neglect this reminder, it will be automatically set to “Friends.”
Existing users will also be reminded about their post’s privacy settings with a “Privacy Checkup” tool that should roll-out soon. Be on the lookout for something like the image above.
Other new updates in Facebook’s privacy efforts as indicated are:
Public posting reminder – a quick reminder to people posting publicly to make sure they are sharing with the audience they want.
Simplified Audience Selectors – wherein you can see the privacy setting for your current post and change it to your liking.
Anonymous Login and New Controls for Facebook Login – log into apps without sharing any personal information from Facebook.
Redesigned App Control Panel – a new dashboard where people can see a list of apps they use, manage specific permissions, or remove apps entirely.
