PlayStation Now lets you play PS4 titles on PC

If there is one thing PC gamers are somewhat jealous of console players, it’s having PlayStation-exclusive titles like Last of Us and Uncharted. Thankfully, Sony is bringing these games to PC for everyone to enjoy with the new PlayStation Now.

This will bring a wide selection of PlayStation exclusive titles to Windows PC for the very first time, including entries in the Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank franchises, as well as beloved PS3 games like The Last of Us and Journey. Current subscribers have a new way to access PS Now’s library of over 400 games, and the PC app provides a new way for even more gamers to discover and play the service.

If you plan on getting your hands on this, your PC must meet the following system requirements:

  •  Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
  • 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
  • Sound card; USB port
  • Minimum 5Mbps internet connection

As far as controllers are concerned, Sony also announced its new $25 DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adapter that lets you use your DualShock 4 controllers to PCs and Macs.

According to the PlayStation blog, the app “launches overseas in parts of Europe soon and will come to North America shortly thereafter.” We’re still waiting on the announcement of availability in other countries — Philippines most especially.

HP intros Sure View, aims to keep prying eyes away

It happens to most of us. We see someone at a cafe working on a laptop and we couldn’t help but glance on what that person is doing or browsing. Although we really don’t mean to pry, it’s just something we tend to do once in a while.

This is what HP aims to avoid. With their Sure View screens, only the user could see what’s on the display for better privacy and security reasons.

prying-eyes

The Sure View feature is currently being offered on the HP EliteBook 1040 and EliteBook 840. It only requires a push of a button (F2 on the keyboard) and the screen will switch from wide-angle mode to private mode.

It’s explained by the source as the off-axis visibility on the device is kept on the down low while the on-axis visibility just drops a little. The result, as we’ve mentioned, is to avoid other people from snooping in on the email you’re typing.

3M contributed in making this a possibility by embedding the Sure View filter into the screen itself. By doing so, the display is a lot dimmer when viewed from the sides. This is indeed pretty useful, although it’s still just available with TN style screens.

This is indeed pretty useful, although it’s still just available with twisted nematic (TN) style screens. These, in general, are used in cheaper laptops since higher-end models employ in-plane switching (IPS) displays with good viewing angles.

HP says that they’re working on bringing this privacy feature to IPS displays as well in the near future.

What do you think of this technology? Would it make you consider getting those laptops for better privacy in public?

Cherry Mobile Cubix Morph Unboxing, First Impressions

Cherry Mobile, under their sub-brand Cubix, has updated their convertible line of dual-boot devices. This is the Cubix Morph, a tablet bundled with a keyboard cover that runs both Android and Windows. It was just made available about a few days ago and here’s our initial impression of the tablet fresh from retail shelves.

cubix-morph-philippines-1

The package of the Cubix Morph is pretty standard. You only get the unit that’s already wrapped with its keyboard cover, a DC-in charger, and a few pamphlets. There’s no micro-USB cable and a travel charger included but rest assured, it can be charged through its micro-USB port as well.

cubix-morph-philippines-2

The tablet itself is fairly large due to its 10.1-inch IPS LCD sporting a WXGA resolution. That’s 1280 x 800 pixels in a 16:10 aspect. Clearly, a thick bezel borders the device although it helps in handling. A 2MP camera and an LED indicator hide above the display while a capacitive home is placed below.

cubix-morph-philippines-3

The right side of the tablet doesn’t have any ports or buttons.

cubix-morph-philippines-10

The left side houses a number of ports namely the 3.5mm headphone jack, DC-in, full-size USB 3.0 port, mini HDMI, and a micro-USB port for charging and data connectivity. A flap hides a microSD card slot.

cubix-morph-philippines-8

The top of the tablet has the volume rocker and power/lock button while the bottom end has the Pogo pins and connecting dock for the cover.

cubix-morph-philippines-12

The back features a circular pattern to the center with a printed Windows logo. A 2MP rear shooter is present up top while down below is a pair of stereo speakers. The battery sealed inside is rated at 6600mAh.

cubix-morph-philippines-4

As for the build of the tablet, it is cheap as it gets. It’s made out entirely out of plastic with annoying creaks when lifted from the tablet.
Even the display doesn’t have any scratch-resistant glass on it for protection. Although, the suede fabric of the keyboard cover is just pleasant to hold and carry around. The keys are cramped but is reasonably pleasant to type on when you get used to it.

cubix-morph-philippines-6

The Cubix Morph is powered by an Intel Z8300 quad-core processor with Intel HD Graphics. There’s 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD. So far, everything has been fairly smooth on the Morph, both on Android 5.1 Lollipop and Windows 10. We’re still installing updates to make sure everything is refreshed before concluding about the final performance.

Cherry Mobile Cubix Morph specifications:
10.1-inch IPS LCD @ 1280 x 800 pixels, 149ppi
1.44GHz Intel Z8300 quad-core processor
Intel HD Graphics
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
Expandable via microSD, up to 64GB
2-megapixel rear camera
2-megapixel front camera
Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
6600mAh non-removable battery
Windows 10 / Android 5.1 Lollipop (Dual Boot)

For Php5,999, it’s definitely worth a look for those looking to have two operating systems within their grasp. You can avail of the tablet exclusively on Lazada here.
