Google Now, Google’s personal card-style assistant, is pushing its way into your desktops.
As of now, Google Now for desktop is accessible within Chrome Canary. That is a beta version of Chrome aimed for developers and to those who want to be early adopters of new features. It could be unstable but it is updated daily. It can run alongside with a stable version of Google Chrome.
If you want to try, you may download Chrome Canary for your Windows and Mac PCs. And then:
- Go to chrome://flags/#enable-google-now
- Switch from “Default” to “Enabled”
- Click “Relaunch Now” at the bottom of the page to restart the browser.
Google Now cards are displayed by the Chrome’s notification interface in the Windows system tray or the Mac menu bar with a bell icon. Make sure to sign in to your Chrome browser in order to use Google Now. Available cards include weather, sports scores, traffic details, and event reminders. If you use Google Now on a mobile device, these cards might be based on your mobile’s location. If you use multiple devices with Google Now, each device’s location must be managed independently.
